CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Dr. Brown
My heart is racing, a slow feeling of dread worming its way inside.
That night when I had passed by Jesse, I had felt his energy. It had been different, traces of something old and ancient within his scent. And then he mentioned the dreams. I had hoped he would open up to me so that I could be sure, but he's even more clammed up than Taylor. It's been weeks of effort, and I only now managed to get some information from him. But none of it is good.
I wait for him to leave.
He's heading in the direction of the forest.
As soon as I'm sure he won't see me, I grab my jacket and rush out, heading for Morrighan's office.
I don't even bother knocking, just barging, only to see her with someone, another counselor.
"Get out!" I order, breathlessly.
When he hesitates, I growl, "Now!"
"Sherry!" Morrighan Yearwood says, sharply. "What is this?!"
I hold up a hand before closing the door once the counselor is out. I then proceed to lock it.
