Night was falling as the sky became darker and the sun disappeared from the horizon. All the teams were more or less finished with their different tasks by now. The werewolves were back with a plentiful bounty, which the leprechauns promptly butchered. Melissa and her team managed to gather plenty of water after doing several trips to and back from the river. They had encounter many tier 3 beasts around the river who were promptly defeated by her and the imps. The survey team had managed to create a map of the town, indicating damaged areas and gathered anything useful they can find. Most of the food in the town was destroyed or contaminated in some way, but they did manage to salvage electronics, clothing and sheets. And as for the electronics team.
"And voila." A little leprechaun with a scruffy brown beard and glasses from the house of weakness said as he turned on the generator. All the lights in the hotel were turned on as the generator switch was flicked, but most importantly, the hotel refrigerator was working again. Now they didn't have to worry about meat and other perishable food from spoiling, and also they wouldn't have to hunt everyday. After an entire day of discussing the generator's design, trying different ways to incorporate runes into the design, almost starting electrical fires, burning through electronics and copper wire, creating wires out of gold and encasing them in diamond so they don't cause electrical fires and almost dying. They finally managed to get the generator working, or rather creating a brand new generator by combining Earth technology and runes.
They quickly ruled out using the old generator because they didn't have any petroleum or diesel gases to use as fuel. They used all of it up in their trip here, so they created a new one. Combining Bartus' knowledge of runes and the leprechauns and werewolves from Colin's family knowledge of Earth's technology, they somehow managed to create a working generator.
"It seems those morons downstairs managed to get the generator running." Lily said with an annoyed expression. For the entire day, she along with Patrick and a few others were on standby because the engineering team almost burned down the hotel, not one, not two, but four times.
"Well, at least now we have electricity." Alice said, as the two of them sat in the courtyard around a table made of diamonds with a crystal umbrella above them. Alice had a notebook and pen in her hand, along with a map of the town. Melissa and Leia's teams have been making various ideas to make their tasks easier. Melissa suggested diverting a small stream of water from the river closer to the town. And Leia was suggesting that they should just demolish the rest of the town and redesign it to fit their own purpose. She has been writing down all their ideas and their plans of action.
"I don't get what's so great about electricity? So you guys have this refrigerator thing now, but you guys could achieve the same thing with just freezing the meat in a room." Lily said. Lily has been busy as well, teaching those who didn't have anything to do how to cultivate, raising the members of the family's level even higher. She has also been helping Alice out with her managerial duties.
"We don't have anybody with [Ice Affinity]." Alice said
"What about Patrick? He could freeze them with his [Icy Flames Affinity]." Lily replied
"He could, but he would have to do it constantly wouldn't he? Besides, refrigerators aren't the only thing we can do with electricity." Alice smirked
"What else? Show-"
*Crack*
*Crack*
Suddenly, a loud cracking sound, like glass breaking, spread throughout the entire town. They could also feel powerful waves of demonic energy eminating from somewhere within the town.
"W-what the hell is that?" Alice asked as she shivered from the waves of energy. As they passed through her, it felt like her insides turned to gelatine, jiggling around.
"That space energy, space affinitied demonic energy that is. I-I think, the portal is opening." Lily said, with a terrified look on her face.
