Chapter 311 War is here(7)

While Colin, Skorn and Bartus fought the creature known as War, Lily had the task of defeating the Gorgon monster. A Gorgon was a monster fluent in the use of [Poison Affinity] making them a dangerous enemy as they slowly weakened their prey before going in for the kill. What's even worse, was their ability to turn parts of a person's body to stone with a mere glance.

'What a pain.' Lily thought as one of her wings were petrified and she fell to the ground, the Gorgon came in for the kill, but a sword appeared behind her and pinned her tail to the ground, allowing Lily to escape. The stone covering her wing soon crumbled to dust as she poured some of her abundant demonic energy into it.

'This is a war of attrition, I can't get too close or I'll get poisoned and she can't get close unless she wants to get hit with my whip again.' Lily thought while looking at the Gorgon who was surrounded by a green mist. Even with the [Overdrive] trait active, she wasn't sure how much of that poison she could take. She looked over at the army of tier 4 demons and she had to admit, they weren't doing as bad as she thought, but she knew they would soon run out of momentum as they were surrounded by a thick green mist.

'I need to hurry this up.' Lily said and flew towards the Gorgon.

'Maybe I really am not cut out for this?' Alice thought as the demons under her command, coughed violently as the green mist entered their lungs. As soon as they charged towards the monsters, they were bombarded with poisonous mist, which although didn't affect them at first, quickly took it's toll on their bodies. The demons from Askalad army tried to warn her, but understandably, she didn't trust them, thinking they were just trying to delay the fight.

[Those of you with [Wind Affinity] try and clear the mist away and those of you with [Earth Affinity] create walls around us.] Alice ordered and the demons quickly got to work. She looked at her skin, which showed green patches like everyone else's, evidence of the poison coursing through her veins. She was doing a bit better than the others because of her [Blood Affinity], but that won't help her for long if she is continuously exposed to the poison.

[My lady, with all do respect, we should retreat and try our best to hold them off from a distance.] Bella, the demon noble, said

[It's too late for that, they have already surrounded us.] Alice said as she could feel the Lamias all around her. The mist was cleared from around them, making everyone sigh in relief as they were no longer assaulted by poison, and the earth walls soon rose as well.

'I guess this is what they wanted, to trap us like rats in a barrel.' Alice thought as she could sense the Lamias circling them.

[M-my lady, the walls won't hold for long.] A vampire said as he struggled to hold the earth wall and indeed, the monsters were using the poison to corrode the walls, turning them black and brittle, slowly chipping away at their defence.

[Can you open sections of the wall big enough for a Lamia to fit through at and close it quickly?] She asked

[Yes.] He replied while looking at her skeptically

[Paul, get the werewolves ready to attack the Lamias on sight and earth benders get ready to open the walls on my command.] She said and walked over to a section of the wall.

"What are you planning to do?" Paul asked out loud

"I'm going fishing." Alice said

[Here.] She ordered, tapping the section of the wall and the earth users quickly opened the wall. Behind it, a Lamia was moving silently through the mist, near undetectable, but Alice could sense her. A rope made of shadow wrapped around it's neck and dragged the surprised Lamia into the wall.

"Close the wall!! Wolves!!" Alice shouted and the earth users quickly closed the wall while the wolves pounced on the still stunned Lamia and ripped her apart as she screamed in pain.

"One down, thirty more to go." Alice sighed.
