Danvers frowned. She was offended with Groovy’s witty reply.
“You went to do your rogue business again.” Danvers looked at the truck’s closed cargo area. “What do you have in there?”
“What do you mean by ‘rogue business”? Groovy wasn’t having it with Danvers.
Danvers hopped down from the nerf bar, and she stood beside the cargo bed. “I know you are a freelance hunter.”
“I see you have consumed what you shouldn’t have.” Groovy adjusted himself in the seat, resisting the urge to jump down from the driver’s seat and confront Danvers.
“Danvers, tell your men to lift the barricade. I have important things that need my attention.”
“No way in hell. Not until you show me what is inside this cargo bed.” Danvers shook her head.
“You must be rotting in hell before I decide to open that cargo bed for you.” Groovy started the truck and revved the engine all while he stared ferociously at the regular patrol agents who controlled the barricade system.
