Kate felt like hurling, but she fought back against the nausea. "That didn't answer my question, Roadkill. What are these changelings really? And why do your victims put them in their bodies in the first place?"
The man walked to the terrace's edge and gazed at the abandoned asylum. "Changelings are most likely man-made, born from a freak accident of science. It's very likely there are mad scientists involved."
"Oh!" Kate exclaimed.
"The changelings are made purely from two materials—endometrial tissue and neural tissue. I assume you are a University student. Do you know where these tissues are found?"
Kate's heart skipped a beat when Roadkill called her a University girl. Was it so obvious? She actively tried to sound like a grown woman and had gotten pretty good at it. People whom the Raven rescued believed her to be in her twenties.
Victor's explanation made Kate's blood freeze. "You mean… the changelings are composed of… uterus and brain material?"
