Chapter 6

"F*ck I need to know why you took his life, Alpha. I mean, he's the son of Alpha Maurus! Beta An irritated Rett complained to his Alpha, but Nero gave him blank stare.

The potential consequences of this matter are dire, as it has the potential to ignite a tumultuous conflict between the affected cities and those who are embroiled in the situation. Alpha Nero let out a deep sigh and rolled his eyes in exasperation.

"Alpha, are you paying attention? Are you sure about this?" Rett asked, his brow furrowed in concern. Nero, however, simply shrugged in response.

His eyes were irresistibly drawn to the woman who lay sound asleep on his bed. She looked as though she had never before experienced the luxury of such a comfortable environment.

Rett used his own palm to wash his face. Beta felt a wave of frustration wash over them as they contemplated the possibility of Alpha Maurius waiting for their explanation.

"Alpha, please respond to me!" Rett posed the question once more.

As soon as Rett made his move, his Alpha's gaze fell upon him. Their eyes met briefly, and then Alpha Nero's gaze settled on Rett.

The man declared with conviction, "This woman is my mate." Beta Rett was stopped in her tracks by four words that came out of Nero's mouth.

Rett's eyes widened in surprise as he gazed at Alpha, searching for any hint of jest in his words.

The Alpha was met with a disbelieving stare. "You've got to be kidding me," the words escaped through gritted teeth. That was a proclamation, not a query.

Both of them were acutely cognizant of the fact that the task at hand was insurmountable, for it was nothing more than a fabled tale. Alpha Nero shook his head in disapproval.

"Do you think I came out as kidding to you?" Nero demanded, his forehead creased in a frown. Gulping nervously, Beta Rett surveyed his surroundings.

Beta paced back and forth, a nervous energy emanating from him. The feeling of frustration gradually gave way to a sense of nervousness. The Beta walked back and forth a few times until he finally stopped and questioned his Alpha.

"Is this thing really real?" With a piercing gaze, Alpha Nero fixed his eyes upon his Beta. With his hands up, Beta signaled that he was giving up.

"Please, Moon Goddess! We have never seen anything like this before, and it's completely overwhelming and perplexing!" Rett exclaimed.

"Indeed," responded Alpha Nero in a curt manner to Rett. The Beta furrowed his brow and let out a heavy sigh, his hand instinctively rising to scratch at his head.

"Using it as an excuse to kill the Alpha's son makes some sense. It is a widely known fact that lycans are fiercely overprotective when it comes to their chosen mates. Now that you've confirmed its seriousness, it can no longer be considered myth. Rest assured, Alpha," Beta Rett reassured, "even if you were to present this before the esteemed Lycan council, victory would be yours.

"Would I have taken his life had I not possessed the upper hand?" Alpha Nero spoke with a sarcastic tone, addressing Rett.

Nero could hear Rett's grumbling and whispered words, though they were inappropriate for addressing his Alpha. Because the electrifying feeling of connection he shared with the woman consumed him, he paid no attention to his surroundings.

He still clutches her tightly, unwilling to let go. The sensation was so intense that he felt as though he were weightless, as if he were floating effortlessly through the air.

"Do you know what her name is, Alpha?" Rett posed the question once again, and this time it piqued the Beta's interest.Nero, the alpha of the pack, shook his head. "Before I could ask her, she passed out."

"Perhaps she was surprised by my handling of the person who had touched her," he replied.

At the mere recollection of that particular incident, Nero's blood begins to boil with intense fervor. Little did he anticipate the sheer intensity of his reaction or the severity of the punishment that would ensue for his transgression of touching his mate without prior consent.

All he could think about was ending the life of the lycan. Alpha Nero stood in the dimly lit hotel room, his gaze fixed on the slumbering form of the woman before him. He knew that his next move would be a critical one, and he was not one to make hasty decisions.

Thus, he patiently waited for her to awaken, pondering the possibilities that lay ahead. Only when she opened her eyes would he determine whether or not to bring her along on his journey.

He will forcefully take her back to his city, regardless of her personal preferences. Without a shred of doubt or hesitation, he pondered whether he was deserving of his beloved mate.

With all his might, he was determined to protect her. He possessed an unwavering determination to do anything for her. Though Rett refrained from verbalizing his contentment, he couldn't help but feel pleased with his Alpha.

The Alpha had undergone a wondrous phenomenon, one that called for great celebration. The anticipation of the celebration lingered in their minds, but they knew it would have to wait until they returned home.

"Alpha Maurius' foot steps are approaching here, Alpha," Beta Rett remarked to Alpha Nero, who was busy stroking his mate.

Never would anyone have imagined that such a merciless Alpha would be bestowed with a mate. A mate destined by fate, to be precise.

"Let him be," Nero replied in a frigid tone to Rett. Rett was on the verge of responding when the door to their lodging abruptly slammed shut.

"Leave that place at once, Alpha Nero! The Alpha of the Southeast city bellowed, "Pay for what you have done to my son!" Alpha Maurius rapped on the door and gave it a firm shove.

Nero remained unperturbed by the clamorous voices that echoed beyond his walls, despite their audible proximity. You have mastered the art of rule-keeping.

"You have taken the life of my beloved child!" he cried out, his voice shaking with grief and anger. Pay for your sins!" Once more, it bellowed. Perhaps the hotel staff is also keeping the city's king, Alpha Maurius, at bay.

"There exist witnesses to your actions! Do not cower in hiding," Alpha Maurius bellowed. Coward was the word that Alpha Nero despised the most. Rising from his seat, the Alpha swiftly unlatched the door.

A small number of hotel staff members were present at the entrance with Alpha Maurius and its Beta. "I am no coward, and certainly not a criminal," he declared with a cold tone.

The Alpha of the city was taken aback as Alpha Nero's voice resounded. Alpha Maurius was filled with trepidation at the mere mention of Alpha Nero Astadel, for his cunning and tactical prowess were unmatched.

"You are a criminal! You have taken the life of my beloved child!" The Alpha cried out again.

"Where is that girl?! Where is the woman who is the cause of everything? That girl is shameless! The blood that lay upon her was shameless! They weren't satisfied with my firstborn; they even took my youngest!" The Alpha's voice boomed with fury as he yelled.

Alpha Astadel's mind was clouded with confusion, unable to grasp anything beyond the woman before him. She was his mate, and of that he was certain. As the words left his lips, his mind fixed on a singular thought: the old man had dared to insult his beloved mate.

Alpha Nero's countenance underwent a sudden and drastic transformation, morphing into a visage that could only be described as one of pure, unadulterated malice.

"Alpha Maurius, I find myself teetering on the edge at present. If you dare to insult my mate again," he seethed, his eyes flashing with fury, "you shall meet your demise, and your son shall suffer the same fate." The voice of Alpha Nero reverberated through the air like a deafening clap of thunder.

Alpha Maurius retreated a pace. "You have chosen a mate? You picked that woman! Did you know that she was a descendant of the woman and man who had the audacity to defy societal norms by binding themselves in matrimony?" The deafening screams of the old Alpha pierced through the air, leaving Alpha Nero momentarily stunned.

Does it not perceive that his hearing is keen? Gradually, Alpha Nero managed to assemble the fragments of Alpha Maurius' speech, yet regardless of the content, he remained indifferent.

"Her parents are to blame for this. Alpha Nero said this with much seriousness and sincerity: "The sin of the parents is not the sin of the child." The elderly Alpha emitted a contemptuous snort.

"I care not for the consequences that may befall you both," Alpha Maurius bellowed with fury.

The sickening crunch of Alpha Maurius' finger breaking followed the sound of Alpha Nero's jaw snapping through the room. Alpha Maurius grappled with his thoughts momentarily but quickly regained his composure and found the words he was searching for.

The words of his accuser astounded Alpha Nero. He could feel the weight of the accusation bearing down on him, threatening to crush him under its burden.

"You are only increasing your sin, Alpha Nero!" the man had said, his voice ringing out with a clarity that left no room for doubt.

Nero knew that he had to respond, but his mind was a jumble of conflicting thoughts and emotions. For a moment, he was at a loss, but then he rallied himself and spoke.

"I am not guilty of the sin you accuse me of," he said, his voice firm and steady. "I have done nothing wrong." Alpha Nero arched an eyebrow in response.

"I assured you that I harbored no transgressions against you. The woman, whom fate has deemed to be my soulmate, is being touched by your son without her consent. The young lad had even dared to mock my mate, much to my dismay," Alpha Nero said.

The eyes of Alpha Maurius expanded in surprise. Their response mirrored Rett's earlier reaction."You are lying," Alpha Nero was accused.

"The notion of a fated companion had long since faded into obscurity. You utter those words merely as a means of absolving yourself from guilt," he retorted. The elderly Alpha pondered.

Alpha Maurius was well aware that the person who spoke was not one to fabricate falsehoods.

"What I said is true. Even if they were to bring the matter before the Lycan Council. The words that escaped my lips were nothing but the truth." Alpha Nero's words were devoid of any hint of humor.

He cast a withering gaze toward Alpha Maurius. The jaw of the old Alpha clenched tightly as he launched a sudden attack on Alpha Nero. Alpha Maurius had moved with lightning speed, his hands reaching out to wrap around Alpha Nero's throat.

But just as quickly as the attack had begun, it was halted. Alpha Nero had somehow managed to stop Alpha Maurius in his tracks, preventing the deadly outcome that seemed inevitable just moments before.

With a swift leap, Alpha Nero seized him by the neck. The onlookers' eyes widened in disbelief as Alpha Nero demonstrated his unexpected ability.

The wise adage goes, "If victory is not within reach, it is best to refrain from launching an attack." Alpha Nero's voice was low and menacing as he spoke, "If I so desired, ending your life would be a simple task." The mere presence of Alpha Maurius caused those on his side to recoil in fear and shrink back in trepidation.

Alpha Nero was not regarded as a typical Alpha but rather as a beast capable of unleashing destruction at any given moment.

Nero's grasp on the elderly gentleman was firm, reminiscent of his son's predicament the previous night. Alpha Maurius fell to his knees, his voice trembling as he pleaded with Alpha Astadel.

"Please, I implore you, do not take my life," he said, his eyes wide with fear. With a sly grin, Nero looked on. Releasing the old Alpha, he adjusted his collar with a sense of purpose.

"Let us take this matter before the esteemed Lycan Council, that you may receive a just and impartial trial. However, I must caution you. I shall emerge victorious," he declared with unwavering confidence.
