Chapter Six

Chapter 6

This is why I never wait until I run out of household supplies...

Especially the essential items a woman needs.

Since our washing machine broke, everyone has been doing laundry by hand.

Never let your house run out of necessities before restocking. This realization hit me this morning. I know I tend to be frugal most of the time.

Yeah, yeah.

It's good... BUT ONLY IN SOME CASES, okay?

Don't live with that mindset.

After dumping all my dirty clothes in the laundry basket, I realized there was no detergent.

Holy crap!

Look at me, who doesn't like buying small things from the neighborhood.

What was that phrase again?

Oh! Got it.

Hehehe.

BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS, right? Yeah, absolutely. No choice, baby.

I soaked a few clothes in a big black bowl with enough water so all the germs and dirt could settle at the bottom.

Mom was still in the kitchen making beans and yam.

Mmm...

That's my favorite, darling.

Since today is Saturday, what do you expect KIDDO to be doing?

Dude, that guy is with his PS5. Or is it Xbox they call it? That was his last year's Christmas gift from me.

Am I not nice?

When I got halfway to the express, I realized I was only wearing my yester-slash-daybreak night robe.

Holy shit.

Now, what should I do? The only suggestion I won't consider right now is going back to the house to change...

"Bummi Ademoye?"

Who the heck just called my full name?

I stood still on the spot by the walkway and turned around...

Damn, you look hot like a chocolate bun, baby.

That's my... "What am I seeing?" It's... it's... "Wait a second..." I think I know who this is. Yes, I remember.

He walked closer in a majestic style. I think I like his walk.

Standing before me was an old friend, but I can't really remember his name or where we first met.

Isn't that crazy?

Why is it that the brain can remember it forgot something but can't recall what it is?

"Damian...?" Finally, my brain has come back to life.

"Long time, no see." Is he really extending his hand for a handshake? Oh, my goodness.

My cheeks are turning from blue to pink.

"Sorry, do I know you?" I think I deserve an award for telling such a bold lie.

I rearranged my night robe like a saint.

For the love of God, am I really blushing in front of this gorgeous, Chinese-looking guy?

A faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips. "Of course you know me. Otherwise, you wouldn't have mentioned my name."
