Revelations

I'm dreaming. I think I am, but it feels like a memory of mine, or someone else's. A woman runs frantically from a village. She's trying to hide. I can feel how frightened she is. She's panting, exhausted, but she doesn't stop. She's carrying a baby, strapped around her chest with a big piece of fabric... and I can't help to feel that baby is me. The woman cries and the baby cries too, disturbed by her mother's emotions.

"Shh", the woman says, caressing the baby's face. She tries to force a smile, but her eyes are filled with fear. She's beautiful; of pale skin, huge honey eyes and big pupils. Her hair is long and dark blue. Her ears are elf-like, long and pointy. The lady is tall and thin, and her cheek bones are well defined. I have never seen anyone that looks like her.

The woman gets to a forest. She keeps running some more and then, she finally stops when she reaches the swamps. She breathes slowly, catching her breath from all the running she just did. She cries, relieved, and kisses the baby on the forehead. "We made it Drea", she says to the baby, to me! The lady stays in the same spot and she looks around her, scared and anxious, like she is expecting something, or someone.

Every little noise in the swamp startles her. There is movement nearby, I can hear it on the grass and branches. Someone is approaching. "My love!" A man says to the woman, as he comes from the trees that surround us. He is not alone, a creature walks beside him. The wolf horse! The man and the woman hug each other desperately and then, he takes me from her, holding me tightly against his chest, kissing my face.

"We will keep you safe, Andreamaba", he whispers to me. The man is big, strong and handsome. He smells like flowers and smoked wood. His eyes are smaller than the woman's eyes and they are green, like emeralds. His face is firm, with a full beard and a mustache; and his hair long, in brown dreadlocks with streaks of red and yellow. He is not like any man I have ever seen. He is super strong, but gentle! The man is tall and his nose is shaped like a cat's nose, reminding me of a lion's face.

"They should be here already", the wolf horse says. "Indeed. I don't like this", the man holding me agrees, as he walks in circles anxiously. "Something is wrong", the woman moans in pain. "Maba!" The man yells, as he goes to her, looking preoccupied. "Are you hurt?" He checks on her, touching her with concern, and she winces. She is wounded and there are blood stains on her clothes.

"Andreúl", the woman whispers, "I do not have much time. I will not make it to the Zatra tribe like this. Please, promise me you will go on with Drea and Tolug, without me." She pauses, swallowing slowly. "Take care of her for me." "No, please do not say such things, Maba. We will both take care of our daughter together. Just hold a little longer. The Zatra people will be able to heal you with their marine plants and spices."

Just as the man says that, soldiers come from all directions. The soldiers resemble the lady, with their pale skin, height, and slender bodies. Their ears are pointy and just like Maba, they have huge eyes too. Some have blond hair and others have dark blue hair. They carry weapons and point them at us. "Princess Maba, please, come with us. We have the technology to heal you! Don't make this more difficult!" A man who looks like he is in charge yells at her.

"I will not! You are a monster. All of you are!" The woman yells back with rage and sobs. "Very well, have it your way, Princess Maba; you spoiled, ungrateful savage!" The man says those words with hate and his fingers pull on the trigger of his weapon, shooting at the man holding me in his arms, my father. The impact is so powerful that he lands on the water, with me still strapped to his chest.

The wolf horse jumps in the water and pulls me off the man. He leaves the couple behind as he sprints through the woods, holding on the piece of fabric I'm wrapped in, with his fangs. He doesn't stop until we reach a meadow. A spaceship floats above a field covered in flowers and the sky has changed from dawn to sunrise. When Tolug, the creature carrying me, gets to the ship, a few steps unfold out of a door and a man (a human man) gets out of the ship.

"They did not make it. The contact from the Zatra Tribe did not show up", Tolug says to the man, exhausted and upset. "So this is plan B. I knew our friend from Zatra would get intercepted. The Forest and the Kandreo people are at war again, only you guys thought it was a good idea to leave your hiding spot in these crazy times!" The man says to Tolug, shaking his head, looking angry and sad at the same time. "We had no choice, The Farrix guards found us!" Tolug growls.

"Lucky for you I decided to stick around longer... I had a feeling you were going to need some help." Tolug hops in the ship with me and the man closes the door after he gets in too. "Wait, before traveling to Earth we need to stop by the river near our hiding spot. Princess Maba left a potion for Andreamaba and I, in case..." Tolug lowers his head and sighs, "in case Andreúl and her could not make it."

"She made the formula for the potion with some help from our Forest friends. We have to see if it works. It's supposed to conceal our real identities and make it similar to the ones from our surroundings." The man flies away and gets to where Tolug asked him to take him. Tolug gets out and runs quickly to get what they hid by the river, and once he gets it, he gets back on the ship and we travel for a long time.

When we arrive on Earth, after getting out of the ship, Tolug asks the man to pour half of the potion into his mouth and the rest into mine. I am a toddler now! I look so weird... I look like my mother's people, the Farrix, but I also look like my father's, Kandreo. The man obeys Tolug's request and we drink the silver liquid. After that, everything gets blurry.

I find myself on a farm, running through the fields with Wolfy in my arms. I must have been like 3 years old and I look like a human. I hold Wolfy tightly, because I am scared. People came to attack the man, the pilot who helped us and has been hiding us in his farm in the middle of nowhere. He keeps his space ship in a huge barn and I don't know his real occupation, but he is more than what he lets people believe about himself.

This man has been raising me for a while, so he taught me how to protect myself. He told me to run as far as I could, until reaching a breach where I would see cars passing by. He told me to wait there for him, but to not let anyone see me. I trusted that man as a father, so I did as I was told, and he (The Mechanic is how they call him) appeared almost at night, beaten badly.

He held my hand and took me to a firefighter station and said, "Remember, your name is Drea and this, pointing to Wolfy (which I now understand is Tolug) is your best friend and protector, don't you let him out of your side". Then, he kissed my forehead and touched the pearl of the necklace around my neck, saying, "This is your legacy, child, don't ever lose it!"

He walked inside the firefighter station and made up a story about how he found me at the bridge while he was walking his dog. He said he jumped in front of a car to stop it from hitting me and he got injured. He added that his dog ran away while he was trying to help me, and that he couldn't find any signs of an adult accompanying me… insinuating I was probably lost or abandoned.

The Mechanic did this to protect me from the people who almost killed him. Somehow I understood this, after being told too many times by him, that there were going to be people after me, trying to hurt me. I knew I had to lie like he taught me to, all the time he took care of me. The Mechanic left and I knew I was not supposed to cry for a "stranger", but he almost did when he walked away, and the firefighters took me with them, to find a home for me.

I wake up from my slumber and as soon as I open my eyes I see I am no longer in the Flores' living room. I have no idea where I am. I hear loud noises, people shouting and the floor shakes violently! My body vibrates against a wall and I notice I am sitting down, strapped to a seat. The place looks like the inside of a ship, full of buttons, computer screens and flashing lights. I start to freak out!

The creature I call Wolfy is strapped in a seat in front of me, but he is not in chains like me, and Blake is the pilot, sitting with his back towards us. "This is treason!" A familiar voice comes through the speakers on the ship and I manage to see Jake through one of the screens, outside, down, in what looks like the inside of a warehouse.

Laura and someone else I haven't seen before stand by him. They shoot at us and Blake struggles to remain in control of the ship. On another screen, I see how we keep elevating until the people yelling through the speakers are no longer heard or seen on our screen. Now we are too high in the skies for anyone to reach us.
