Chapter 8: People, divided into 3, 6, 9 levels!

"Dad! Since you knew everything, why didn't you stand up for me?" William Cole stared, astonished at Archie Dawn.

"Justice? Haha, William Cole, what 'justice' do you still want?

Are you expecting me to humiliate Dwight Brews openly for your sake?" Archie Dawn scoffed coldly and shook his head. He thought William Cole was too naive.

"Dad! Is Dwight's pride more important than my honor? Ruth misunderstood me..."

William's eyes were bloodshot. He almost growled out each word, pausing for emphasis.

At that moment.

William clenched his teeth hard and his hands into fists, his knuckles cracking. His nails dug deeply into his own flesh.

"What are you yelling about?" Archie Dawn's face darkened with cold laughter, "Dwight's future achievements will surely surpass yours! With your aptitudes, this is as far as you'll go in life! Dwight is also interested in Ruth. In the three years you've been a part of the Dawn family, what have you contributed to us?"

"We've already decided that once you and Ruth divorce, we will immediately arrange for Ruth to marry Dwight!"

"William Cole, you need to understand that people are ranked hierarchically!"

"Some people are destined to be nobler and stronger than you the moment they are born!"

"Some people can achieve greatness from nothing, but certainly not you! William Cole, fate will not favor you."

"Just accept your fate!"

"You are an orphan, with no father or mother. Being able to marry into the Dawn family is already your blessing! What more do you want?"

"You are uneducated, lack culture and ability! But Dwight Brews is different. He's a graduate from a prestigious university and has returned from abroad. Do you think I'd make Dwight lose face for your sake?"

"Dwight is clearly better suited for Ruth. You two should find an opportunity to divorce, and I will arrange for Dwight to marry Ruth."

William bit his teeth so hard that his gums nearly bled. Breathing like a wild beast, he grunted, "So... Dwight's pride is more important than my honor, my dignity, right!!!"

"In your eyes, an outsider like Dwight is your true son-in-law. No matter what I do or how well I do it, I'm just a useless person in your eyes?"

At this moment, William's eyes were bloodshot, and tears welled up.

"Yes."

Archie Dawn's words were like the last straw breaking William Cole's back.

"People are ranked, William Cole. You are destined to be the lowest!"

William closed his eyes, his shoulders shaking, and tears rolled down his face.

No matter how he was insulted, beaten, or misunderstood by Ruth, William had never cried.

Because, he thought as a man he could bear it all!

Yet, Archie Dawn's words made him cry. He cried shamelessly.

The feeling of being looked down upon from one's core, made William feel like everything he did, in Archie Dawn's eyes, amounted to nothing.

No matter how hard he worked or how much he struggled, in everyone's eyes, he, William Cole, was a complete and utter waste – total trash!!!

Lower class!

These words felt like a knife, piercing his heart.

"William Cole, I warn you, forget about what happened today. If you dare bring it up again, there will no longer be a place for you in the Dawn family." After uttering these words coldly, Archie Dawn stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
