There were several more meetings that day. One with her minister of agriculture, another with her minister of foreign affairs, a third with her treasurer, and then yet another meeting with her senate.
All in all, they were exhausting and dull. It wasn't that she hated it.
She was actually learning a great deal about how this world functioned from these sessions. But the details got pretty tedious.
That afternoon, she retreated to her private library and settled into a comfortable armchair, sipping tea.
She'd only just discovered the location of this library.
Or that she had a 'private library' at all. It was nice, though. Secluded, cozy, stocked full of books ranging from dry law journals to poetry to history to fiction.
It was the latter which intrigued her, as she had the urge to dig a book out at random to learn more about her new world.
Nothing better to learn about a world than their fiction, right?!
