Snowball stared with great intent. Blue eyes focused, white fur fluffed. He wiggled his little butt back and forth as his body tensed.

His focus was supreme.

He didn't move except to prime his position, to adjust in tiny little ways to optimize his angle and power without alerting his prey.

His internal calculations spun in his head at the speed of light.

He waited.

Bided his time.

Prepared for the precise, perfect moment to make his decisive move.

With his kitten instincts, sharp as they were, he'd know the exact moment of vulnerability to strike.

...And so, he stared at his mama.

Intently.

And then...

As she set her book down to speak to him.

The moment arrived like a strike of lightning, the signal known only to those with the keenest of eyes and sternest observational skills.

HE POUNCED.

She shrieked.
