Snowball made the most adorable effort sounds as he tried to climb out of his little sling. It was specifically designed so her little baby couldn't climb out, to avoid him from suddenly hopping out and getting trampled underfoot or something while they walked.
But she could see him wriggle and struggle, and they were just sitting in place.
There was a danger that he might bolt with so many people around, but-
Her little baby was giving her pathetic, begging mewls, now.
She just.
Couldn't stand it.
And he was probably too young to run too far away. Right?
Her husbands would be able to catch him if he sprinted off, right?
So.
She gently extracted the kitten and shifted to hold him in her arms at her bosom instead.
"Alright, sweet one..." she murmured. "Is this better, honey?"
Snowball's blue eyes looked up into her face.
He blinked.
And he let out a little yowl.
It wasn't a meow. Or a mewl.
