At the Asura Cloud Sect every disciple no matter if their from the inner sect or simply labor workers were either sleeping or mediating.
But in the middle of the night a red lightning flashed, brightening the dark sky and causing thunders to roar that startled these disciples.
The elders were also startled as they looked at the sky that was covered in red looking lights. When they did their expressions changed as they could see a strange lightning devouring the stars in the sky.
This shocked the elders as fear took over their minds. This phenomenon has the capability to kill everyone in the Asura Cloud Sect and possibly cause its destruction.
The Sect Master also came out as his face was very pale. As the strongest person in the Asura Cloud Sect he was overwhelmed by fear.
Although he couldn't feel the power behind this strange lightning, he could tell that if he were to get too close to it he would most likely vanish without a trace.
"Prepare to activate the protection formation!" The Sect Master shouted but his shout didn't sound like one at all as he was afraid of attracting the strange lightning wrath.
The elders of the sect got busy as they formed hand seals, ready to activate the protection formation. Suddenly the lightning flashed briefly as thundering sound louder than the previous ones clamor the sky.
Soon the sky began rumbling as the red lightning crashed down on the labor workers section.
The elders seeing this sighed in relief as the labor workers were basically disposable goods in their opinions. Although the labor workers lived near the sect it was simply around the borders of the sect walls. The damage would be minimum as they believed the lightning wouldn't be able to spread to them.
"Activate the formation now!" But the Sect Master mind was far different from these ignorant elders. He screamed with all his might at the elders but only saw them looking at him bewildered. This made the Sect Master almost go insane as he spat out a mouthful of blood and formed hand seals forcefully.
He knew this lightning wasn't simple and as a cautious person he didn't like taking risks. When he completed his hand seals a purple barrier covered the entire sect that surprised all the disciples as they wondered why the elders would do such a thing.
Bang! The lightning landed on the barrier breaking it entirely. This made the Sect Master spat out more blood as he felt like half of his life span was destroyed in an instant.
The elders expression also changed as they began to panick. With the formation destroyed there was nothing saving them now.
The disciples also never expected that the lightning that they thought of mere entertainment would break the sects strongest formation.
Their entire body shivered as thoughts enter their minds, "Am I about to die?" Was what lingered in their heads.
But just when they all had no hope of surviving the lightning vanished without a trace which shocked many especially the Sect Master who couldn't believe what just happened.
"Haha! An expert must have took pity on us and protected our lives!" An elder was the first to recover from this shock as his face was covered in joy.
"Thank you senior!" When the other elders heard this, one by one they began kneeling on the ground in worship.
The Sect Master was no exception as he also knelt to the ground, currently the Sect Master looked like a skinny old man as half his life force was sucked away when the barrier was destroyed.
The disciples also saw the actions of the elders and kneeled on the ground as well. They didn't understand what was happening but they felt very grateful that they were still alive.
Everyone lay on the ground for two hours before the Sect Master finally got up, "Don't let this news spread to the other sects. I will be going into seclusion to recover my strength, when I return I expect everything to be alright." The Sect Master looked coldly at the other elders as they were the reason why he ended up like this. "Elder Lu I leave you in charge." He then turned to an elder who he could trust then walked away.
"Understood Sect Master." Elder Lu was shocked at first but then a cruel smile appear on his face as he watched the Sect Master figure leaving. The other elders who saw his expression wore wary smiles as they could tell their lives wouldn't be an easy one from now on.
The disciples noticed that the elders were no longer kneeling chose to get up. They then began talking about the strange occurrence as shivers run down their spines.
A few hours later the disciples got bored and tired, the disciples then bid to their fellow brothers and sisters farewell as they went back to sleeping and mediating.
While this was going on, inside Jian Zheng hut his entire body was covered in scarlet like scars. Recalling what happened Jian Zheng took in a mouthful of air.
When he opened the tattered book he felt like he was being possessed but luckily his phoenix aura came out right at that moment bringing him back to reality.
However, when the book failed to possess him lightning appeared in the sky as thunder roared with anger.
Angry that it couldn't possess Jian Zheng the lightning strike down on him with the intentions of killing him. With no way of retaliating he shut his eyes tightly as he await the pain that would wreck havoc on his body, but when the lightning was about to strike him a figure appear in front of him with a sword that blocked the lightning.
The person who blocked the lightning was naturally Scarlett but even though she managed to defend Jian Zheng not all of the lightning power was dispelled. Resulting in 10% of its power to land on his body, covering him with scars.
The pain caused Jian Zheng to scream internally. He knew it would hurt but the attack was clearly weaken so he couldn't understand why it was still so powerful.
Tears came flowing out of his eyes. He tried as much as possible not to cry but he couldn't stop the tears as the pain was unbearable. He felt like ten-thousand swords landed and pierced through his body which something like that isn't something he should be able to imaging.
As the pain took over his mind a figure hugged him gently and whispered in his ears. "Hold on, these marks will be able to temper your body and allow you to use sword aura." Scarlett said. Despite the fact that she was trying to comfort Jian Zheng she was extremely worried about him.
But seeing his painful expression she felt like thousands of blades were piercing her back. "You belong to me and I belong to you. We can never be separated for we are one." Scarlett eyes then started glowing red as she kissed the phoenix mark on Jian Zheng forehead. Suddenly the mark then went from black and white to a scarlet color.
Not only that, but his physique also saw a swift change. The change didn't improve anything or made him stronger but made him far closer with Scarlett. Now they felt like their lives were connected and if one of them were to die then the other would also die.
Soon Scarlett eyes turn red as they became watery from the pain she was feeling. She used a secret art to make herself and Jian Zheng even closer so that the pain he felt wouldn't be too unbearable.
Right now she was feeling the same pain as Jian Zheng as the pain was shared fifty-fifty.
She lay in Jian Zheng embrace them went unconscious from the pain. Soon Jian Zheng also became unconscious and they lay together feeling each other warmth.
____________
Two days pasted by quickly as the news of the strange lightning calmed down as not many people were talking about it anymore.
Inside a hut lay a boy who seems to be fifteen and a girl who looks to be an year older than the boy.
These two were sleeping peacefully as they hugged each other tightly. The boys face was covered in the girls bosom as their breath intertwine with each other.
These two were naturally Jian Zheng and Scarlett. Light entered the small hut that touched Jian Zheng face. Feeling the heat that came onto his skin Jian Zheng slowly opened his eyes.
He saw Scarlett laying beside him and recalled what happened two nights ago. Rubbing his eyes he got up as he realized he didn't feel tired at all.
Startled he examined his body to realize that he made yet another breakthrough, entering the Huotian third stage.
Not only that but he could feel that his body has been completely refined. There were no trace of the lightning marks on his body and his skin seems to look like fine jade.
His temperament also saw a change as he nearly experienced close death. Right now he looked like a mature young man as his eyes radiant with scarlet lights.
Touching his hair he pluck a few strands and saw that it was red instead of black which made him smile awkwardly. For the pass five years his hair was always black, but now it turned red?
"It seems like I am truly now connected with Scarlett." Jian Zheng shake his head as he looked at Scarlett and saw his new self in her.
"What now? Will I start wearing red clothing?" Jian Zheng laughed but then paused as he now had an urge to actually try out red clothing.
"Well shit..." Scratching his long red hair he cursed then sighed. Going back to Scarlett he picked her up and placed her on the bed but two minutes later she vanished into the sword which made Jian Zheng wonder what happened. "Maybe she's too tired?"
Jian Zheng was about to hold his sword to go to sleep as he had nothing else better to do than to wait for the outer disciple trail but then he saw something glowing at the corner of his eyes.
Approaching the glowing object he saw that it was a book, "Don't tell me this is that tattered book?" Jian Zheng said in fear as he wasn't willing to get anywhere near that book.
But then he became curious. "Just opening this book has nearly cost me my life so maybe I can learn some forbidden technique from it?" Soon greed then took over his mind as he actually grabbed the book and opened it.
Expecting something to happen Jian Zheng became cautious but a minute later he saw nothing happen. Sighing he finally could feel at ease as he began reading the book.
An hour later he finished reading the book. When he closed it the book stopped glowing red as it actually crumbled into dust.
"..." Jian Zheng became silent. Not because of the book turning into dust but what he just read. From what he read this book has two techniques, a sword technique and a movement technique.
The sword technique is called Scarlet Lightening Conquering Sword art, specialized in using lightning to conquer everything around it. From what he read if he managed to cultivate this technique to perfection then he would be able to pierce his sword into the heavens.
The movement technique is called Conquering Lightening Steps. There was no information of this technique as it seem like this book was incomplete but from what he could tell this movement technique is probably meant to find the flaws of every other movement technique and destroy it.
This was what Jian Zheng thought, "But how am I going to cultivate this sword technique?" He pondered as from what he read to cultivate the Scarlet Lightening Conquering Sword art he would need to have a will to conquer everything while also having a sword aura at the spirit realm.
Remembering what Scarlett said he closed his eyes. He recalled Scarlett saying that he would be able to awaken his sword aura if he was able to endure the pain.
Soon a scarlet red mark representing the phoenix appear on his forehead as his phoenix aura envelop his body along with a new aura.
"Sword aura!" Jian Zheng became excited but soon his expression fell as he realized his sword aura wasn't at the spirit realm.
"Huotian Sword Aura?" Jian Zheng soon became disappointed, 'Shouldn't my sword aura be at the spirit realm?' He questioned but soon came to the realize that although his sword aura was only at the initial stage it was practically equivalent to the perfection stage that means completion.
This confused Jian Zheng but soon he saw a scarlet light appear on his hands. "I managed to practice the sword art!" Jian Zheng exclaimed in surprise. Although he wasn't able to bring out any of the technique moves, just by activating this scarlet light he felt like he could face an expert at the Huotian seventh stage if he brought out his sword aura as well.
Calming his heart and mind he then tried practicing the Conquering Lightning Steps. Right now he couldn't learn any of the sword technique moves as his cultivation was too low but he felt that he could reach quasi-initial stage if he could grasp just a hint from the movement technique.
"Conquering Lightening Steps." Jian Zheng mumbled to himself then asked, "What does it mean to conquer lightning?"
Lightning could be considered as one of the most arrogant elements as only someone who has the will to conquer anything it could cultivate it.
Thinking of this Jian Zheng now knew the answer to his question.
To conquer lightning one must have the will to dominate over it!
When he said this scarlet light appeared on his feet as he felt like he could travel ten meters in the blink of an eye.
