The wait

The nagging feeling persisted as I busied myself with preparations for the interview later in the day. Despite the inner turmoil, I braced myself and exited the room to join them downstairs, determined to keep myself occupied and push aside the disturbances plaguing my mind.

I opted for a short ivory dress, my go-to choice during pregnancy, as it offered comfort without suffocation. Pulling my hair back into a simple style, I chose to forgo makeup, embracing my natural glow and gaining confidence from the radiance I exuded.

Descending the stairs, I found them gathered around the table, engrossed in their discussions, with only Mr. Karalana seated alone. I hesitated momentarily before Andrew approached me.

"Miss Erica, come join us if you don't mind," he invited warmly.
