Trust At Play

"Tell them to meet me at the entrance of the new club in town. One hour."

I ended the call, my hands trembling with both anger and relief. Benjamin was here. He would handle it. But the thought of him spending the night with this woman sent a bitter taste to my mouth.

Gosh!

"You heard him," I said, my voice sharp. "Go. Do whatever you need to. But I want to hear from my mother again, or else—"

"Or else what?" she taunted. "What will you do, Erica?"

My blood dried up.

I leaned in, my voice deadly calm. "Don't push your luck, Penny."

Her smirk faltered as she realized she wasn't the only one playing a game.

They all turned and left.

As the strangers left my office, the tension still hung in the air like a thick fog. I immediately dialed Nichole, the only person I could trust to act swiftly and with precision under Benjamin's command.

"Miss Erica," Nichole answered, his voice calm but alert. "I didn't expect your call."
