Hey, I voice-to-texted Travis. Can you meet at Eleventh Chocolate?
After a few minutes, he texted back. Aren't they closed?
Since when has that stopped us? I added a winky face then a sweaty face with the hope that would show I was sort-of/kind-of joking but also sort-of/kind-of serious. I thought I knew Travis's loose stance on breaking and entering, but people changed.
Since we're only texting in questions, can I be there in ten?
I laughed. Yes?
"Ask him what boots he'll be wearing," Studmuffin demanded.
I tapped him lightly on the head. "That'll ruin the surprise. You'll see soon enough."
I couldn't remember the exact time we'd arrived at Eleventh Chocolate the first time I'd lived through this part, but we arrived before both the white cat and Travis.
After I switched off Bernadette's engine, I whispered, "See anyone?"
"Not yet."
