"She insisted." Shrugging, she began scanning my items. "I think she has a little crush on your familiar."
I laughed. "A crush? I don't blame her really, but..." I had so many questions for Forever, I didn't know where to start. "Hey, what do you know about time travel?"
Too late, I realized the floor sweeper was shuffling his broom right past us. The look he shot me just about eclipsed his whole head with his huge eyes.
"It's for the book I'm writing," I blurted. But then I remembered I was a grown woman and should be able to talk about time travel with no judgement from anyone ever.
The man just shook his head and kept sweeping past us.
Once he was out of earshot, Forever's smile grew. "Time travel is tricky. The rules of it all defy logic, so it's best not to overanalyze it. So will that be cash or credit?"
"Credit."
"You're doing it anyway, then?"
