At least this time I was expecting to time travel. Luckily, my backpack traveled with me. Unluckily, I hadn't made it to Travis's phone in time, which was a real bummer.
But like the old pro I was, I voice-to-texted Cass then Boxy and grabbed my levitating familiar from behind me in the first six seconds back in my apartment.
"Guess what, Studmuffin?" I said to him, hugging him close. "We're about to do a spell."
He wriggled in my arms while staring sternly up at me. "Um, no, pet, we're about to start studying. You just applied to college, remember?"
"Start studying?" I asked in disbelief. "I haven't even been accepted yet."
"No time like the present to get ahead." He swatted me with his mood noodle and then his murder mittens until I finally let him down on the table. "And what's this about doing a spell? What spell?"
"I've been time traveling," I said simply. If only it were so simple.
"You've been time traveling? Like to the future?"
