Chapter 130

Bernadette eased Boxy and me onto Main Street, and once I spotted Isabella's Honda a few car lengths ahead, several more Corvettes turned onto the road. Soon, they surrounded us, clogging up all the lanes. Then even more joined from behind. It was like we were rolling along the Corvette River or something.

"What in the world, Boxy? Is it National Drive Your Corvette to Belle's Cove Day?"

"It is, actually," he said, adjusting his cane between his feet. "It's the Belle's Cove-Vette Superior Car Show held here every year for one day. I told you it was coming up, remember?"

"No, but I've been a bit sidetracked lately."

He nodded. "I'm so sidetracked, I have eight or nine sides too many. It's a wonder I put my suspenders on this morning."

I glanced over at him. "Um, Boxy? You're not wearing suspenders."

"What?" He gazed down at himself and chuckled. "Oh boy, I laid them out this morning and everything. It's a wonder my pants are still on."
