"Yeah, but he has money. If she's past due with her bills, this might be part of her grand scheme to get her hands on it somehow. Trick him into marrying her maybe and then - " 


"Pet." Studmuffin gazed at me sternly. "Not every woman has nefarious plans for the important men in your life. Maybe you noticed at your birthday party, but both you and your dad are now the center of Chloe's universe." 


"You're right," I said with a long sigh. "I'm glad for Chloe too. Dad deserves happiness with his new wife, and I couldn't be happier that she's not a murderer. I think I have some trust issues though."
