Well I never really believed in that second chance crap. The world just didn't work like that. You make a mistake? Well then you got punished for it. Made a mistake and your value dropped. That's how my family worked, you did something wrong? Then your value dropped.
So it was on such a night that I was in my small room shivering from the lack of a blanket, knowing I would never get sleep like this, I pulled on the lights chain, grabbing a book off the ground, I flipped it open to the title page "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" I was a major Harry Potter fan. Having read the whole series it was full of magic adventures and so much more! Giving myself a self deprecating smile I thought of the real reason I loved the books. I could relate to the pain Harry had to go through in the books.
I felt a sudden bout of vertigo, dropping the book in the process, I clutched my head and laid back. I feel so tired, so hungry, so weak, so… so empty.
That brought me to where I am now. The forest was on an island from what I could tell, and from my best guess roughly one hundred to one hundred fifty miles in total or about the size of a few large ranches. The place I woke up was a small natural ditch with a lot of root's hanging from the side of it. Having snuck into "family movie night" I had some guesses as to what this place was in all honesty it reminded me of a mix between the forbidden forest in Harry Potter, and something straight out of a enchanted forest with the undergrowth, and tangled roots and imposing trees that seemed to be silent sentinels that judged me as I passed. Finally I found a source of freshwater that was running quickly, almost perfect for consumption. Looking into the shallows I stopped in shock at the face looking back at me, the face. No, my face was different; it was fuller, better looking, and healthier. My hair was a midnight black, with a glossy sheen that made it look shiny, my face was handsome but not in the traditional way. It was more rough with sharper lines, than a clean cut pretty boy. My eyes were a deep strange blue like uncut sapphires. However the biggest surprise was that I was younger! There was no way I was older than six. My cheeks, despite having a rocky sculpture like look, had the oh so familiar baby fat that just made every kid adorable. Smiling down at myself I saw perfectly straight teeth and perally white. I felt around my face for a bit still coming to terms with what had happened, I had died. My life was over.
"What kind of sick joke is this?" I asked about the open sky. It remained silent. Letting out a deep shuddering breath I put my head in my hands and started sobbing. I was still crying when I heard a soft low note. It conveyed a sense of… danger. No more fear, shaking like a leaf in a gale I looked up to see a giant serpent towering over me. I froze unable to move.
'Don't tell me I'm currently frozen in place because of my stupid instincts!' I screamed mentally 'it doesn't make sense to freeze you stupid new body! It's clearly already seen you! Move! Move! Move!' While I was screaming at myself mentally, the giant snake was watching me with intelligent eyes that blazed a cyan blue. Struggling to breathe I finally forced myself to stand. The horned serpent made another warning sound. Freezing at the sound I was petrified again. Once I was done with another bout of screaming I slowly backed away from the towering creature. Until I reached the tree line then I ran as hard as I could back to my natural canal.
Breathing like a bellows I slumped to the ground as my knees gave out beneath me. Shaking like a leaf I shivered, as I came out of shock. 'I just saw a horned serpent! That's from Harry Potter's world! What the heck!!!'
My mental breakdown seemed to cause me to start to have hallucinations.A blue screen kept popping into my vision turning it blue.
After a few more minutes my body finally started to realize it was out of danger, and settled down. I was hit with a extremely powerful wave of exhaustion. Struggling to keep my eyes open I finally looked at my hallucination.
