In a dimly lit office within the city jail, the Chief, a middle-aged man with a stern demeanor, paced back and forth while two jail officers, Officer Mike and Officer Peres, stood nervously in front of his desk.
“Where is he?! How could this happen?!” the chief yelled.
“Sir, we're still trying to piece it together. It's like he vanished into thin air,” Officer Peres said.
“Vanished?! He's important! He doesn't just vanish!” the chief exclaimed exasperatedly.
“We did a sweep of the entire facility, Chief. Every nook and cranny. There's no sign of him,” Officer Mike added.
“This is a disaster. How are we supposed to explain this to our client? How long can we hide the fact that Kale Justinbaste escaped?” the chief said, massaging his temples.
