Alice and Shawn enjoyed their time at the park, lingering until dusk began to settle. "It's time to go home, Shawn," she said, tugging lightly at his shirt.
"Let's stay longer," he begged, like a stubborn child. She pouted, like the spoiled brat she was—a condition entirely of his making, so he had to bear it.
"Get up, let's go," she insisted, rising to her feet, but keeping hold of him.
"No, I don't want to," he refused, adamant.
"No personal food for you tonight then," she threatened, a playful glint in her eyes. Was she serious? There was no way she could refuse him; he was hers, and she was his.
"Okay, fine, let's go. You've made me hungry now, and you'll give me my food when we reach home," he blurted, sweeping her up by the waist. She stumbled into him, and he seized the opportunity, engaging her in a deep, prolonged kiss. She pulled away, breathless, her mind half-gone. It was best they left this moment behind; he could feel the temperature rising, and his "soldier" was beginning to awaken.
"We better leave, babe," she suggested. Without warning, he scooped her off the ground and headed toward his black, latest-version G-WAGON. But then she spotted a familiar face standing next to an electric pole, a few steps away. It looked like Nyla, especially with that scar.
"Put me down. I think that's Nyla. I have to go remove the poison," she said, pity evident in her voice.
"As you wish," he replied with a sweet smile. They reached the spot, and her guess was right—it was Nyla. She wore a pink hooded sweater and a blue mask.
"Wait, I thought she was maskless. I saw her scar, so how could she have put on a mask in just a second?" she asked Shawn.
"Did you forget you can see through anything?" he asked.
"Hi, Nyla. We meet again," she greeted. Nyla responded with a pained smile, but before she could make a move to leave, Alice used a spell to put her to sleep.
The Scar Vanishes
Nyla woke up in her room, convinced she'd had a vivid dream. She headed to the bathroom to take a shower, but something in the mirror shocked the hell out of her. She was skeptical, but decided to check once more. She looked again and screamed, unable to differentiate between happiness and shock. Her hand instinctively reached for her face but stopped mid-air. After a brief internal struggle between her mind and heart, she chose to touch it. Yes, it was real. Her scar was gone. She gasped, pinching her arm to confirm she wasn't dreaming, and indeed, she wasn't.
"How... how is this possible?" she asked herself. "I've tried plastic surgery, but it kept decaying. Well, I'm not complaining!" After her shower, she ran to tell her mom the good news.
A Queen's Mercy
The previous night, after Alice had put Nyla to sleep, she teleported them to a secluded room. Shawn helped her position Nyla. Alice then chanted a spell that caused black smoke to fill the room. After some time, the smoke dissipated, and with it, the scar on Nyla's face vanished. Alice then erased the memory of the night from Nyla's brain. When she was sure everything was done, she teleported Nyla back to her house and returned home with Shawn.
