Chapter 10

I see Denise standing and waiting for me in front of the school. We do our normal greetings and start towards the building, but the roar of a finely tuned motor stops us in our tracks.

"Well, now," I say, staring. "Quite a car."

"Quite a Porsche." Denise corrects her dryly.

The sleek black Ford Thunderbird purrs through the parking lot, searching for a space.

When the car comes to a stop, the door opens and we glance at the driver.

"Oh, my God," Denise whispers.

"You can say that again." I breathe. Immediately, I become uncomfortable as if someone more powerful than I am is also in the academy. The aura becomes stronger. It's not normal.

From where I stand, I can see he has a lean, flat-muscled body, faded jeans, a tight T-shirt, and a leather jacket. His hair is wavy and dark.

He isn't tall, though, just average height.

I let out a breath.
