The story follows two young men. Eric Evans was born into a wealthy Canadian family. He may be wealthy, but since he's only 16 years old, he cannot achieve independence, later affecting his life. Stephen Brown, may not come from a wealthy family, but he began to fulfill his independence with a promising future in mind. 

Meeting again on their first day as freshmen, they quickly became friends, soon developing feelings for each other. However, Eric's father abruptly decides to return to Canada in the middle of the semester. Eric did everything to convince his father to stay, but it strained his relationship with Stephen. As they wrestled with their emotions and the uncertainties of the future, they wondered if they were meant to be together.

Today was the day that Stephen's classes were starting, and I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness knowing that we wouldn't be together on campus. 


As I got dressed, my thoughts were consumed with Stephen's first day of classes. I knew he was feeling lonely without me by his side, but I had faith that he would make new friends during his first week. 


With nothing to do for the day, I decided to finally finish the book "What If It's Us" by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli. As I turned the last page, I couldn't help but wonder, "What if we end up just being friends?" But then I quickly shook my head, knowing deep down that our connection was more than just platonic. 


Even though we weren't physically together, Stephen and I had found a way to stay connected. He had given me a light-up couple bracelet on my birthday, and whenever we felt lonely or missed each other's company, we would light up our bracelets. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me.
