276. Such A Complicated Creature

"You expect me to believe this? "Nagisa's voice was filled with disbelief as she held her head in frustration. 

Itsuki didn't just tell her the truth, he showed it to her. 

Itsuki showed Nagisa his connection with Yoshino in the other timeline. When her memories returned, she went to find him. 

Nagisa found it all too hard to believe, but a literal spirit stood before her, so it wasn't all that mindblowing.

"You can talk to Yoshino to understand more. I didn't plan for any of this to happen, and if I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have never appeared before you... Sorry," Itsuki said with a bit of remorse, as this situation was complicated. 

Nagisa was more or less like his ex, who resented him, while he, the scumbag, was now dating her one and only daughter, whom she loved so much.

"Heh! If you truly felt sorry, you wouldn't be standing before me! So save me those fake words," Nagisa said in annoyance as she glared at Itsuki.

She could understand that this matter wasn't ultimately his fault. In another timeline, she would have passed away, leaving her daughter alone, and in that life, this man before her helped her daughter out. 

In this life, he tried to guarantee her daughter's happiness by caring for her. Still, some accidents happened, and they ended up entangled together.

Itsuki sighed and shook his head, then gazed at Nagisa for a few seconds with a complicated gaze before leaving to return to the living room.

Nagisa, who watched Itsuki's receding back, felt her vision slightly blurry as she raised her arms to brush her tears away before moving to the washroom to clean herself up. 

She won't be shedding tears for a bastard like him..... At least, she thought so....

Nagisa really did try, but she couldn't prevent the emotions from flowing out. 

Itsuki didn't know how much his words had hurt Nagisa. 

'So you think our relationship was a mistake?' 

'You think meeting me was a mistake?'

'Then are my feelings also a mistake!' 

With each question Nagisa asked herself, tears continued to pour out, and she covered her lips to prevent her sobs from ringing out.

Did she mean that little to him? 

Nagisa couldn't help but ask herself this question in self-depreciation. 

Even when she wanted nothing to do with him, she could not help but pay attention to him. 

Why was she such a loser? Why was she so pressed about his feelings for her when she was the one who wanted to have nothing to do with him? 

Why was she being so bitter about a relationship she didn't want? 

She hated womanisers and two-timing bastards.... But why did she love this bastard so goddamn much...

 Yoshino gazed at Itsuki, who came back with a slightly tired expression.

"I-Itsuki-san, I don't mind if you like my mother, " Yoshino said in a low tone as she shyly lowered her head.

"Your mother hates my guts, and she might explode if she hears her baby girl trying to sell her off," Itsuki said with a chuckle as he sat beside Yoshino, making her blush in embarrassment. 

"Hmph! I am being serious " Yoshino puffed up her cheeks as she glared at him.

She could see how lonely her mother was, and if there was anyone her mother was interested in, it should be Itsuki.

Her mother had worked so hard to raise her, and in her last life, she had even died due to a work-related accident. 

Yoshino felt like she owed her mother a lot.

She was sure that her mother should have some feelings for Itsuki, and if Itsuki tried a bit more, then he should be able to convince her, right?

She can even play wingwoman for him to make sure this happens. 

She wanted her mother to find happiness, and she was sure that Itsuki was the one who could give her that...

Itsuki had a helpless look on his face as he gazed at the empty living room. 

Yoshino had gone back to his home while telling him to take care of her mother. 

Itsuki was a bit speechless but didn't know what to do. 

After not seeing Nagisa come back for a while, Yoshino and he knew that something must have happened, so Yoshino decided to let him be the one to confront Nagisa.

How was he supposed to deal with a woman who despised him, especially when she was the mother of his lover?

Itsuki had feelings for Nagisa, so he decided it was best for her if he stayed away from her. 

However, he never expected Yoshino and the others to regain their memories since he had already resigned himself to losing them.

But now that things were like this, he had to fix them. 

He needed to make things right. He didn't know if what he was doing was right or wrong, but after spending all those years missing them, he wasn't about to let go of Nagisa either.

He was ashamed of himself for giving up without even trying. He wanted to show Nagisa that he could make her happy. 

He wouldn't be confident about this matter if he couldn't see that Nagisa still had some feelings for him, and with Yoshino's help, he might be able to make things right.

AN: So, Nagisa is in love with Itsuki, but Itsuki doesn't know that. He thinks she resents him for what happened years ago. He believes he had hurt her when she was vulnerable, and now that he was in front of her being in a relationship with her daughter, he could feel that he had hurt her once again.

It's like seeing your scummy ex get together with your daughter and coming to you to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage. Itsuki believes she has every right to be pissed at him, and he thinks she must really hate him now, and he regrets getting too close to her as this has complicated the relationship because he can't just leave Yoshino. After all, this time, he won't leave anyone behind.

So, even he knows his apology is hypocritical , because he won't stay away from Yoshino as long as she doesn't want him to stay away. The only thing he regrets is getting romantically involved with Nagisa who was Yoshino's mother, as he believes she would have been better off not meeting him at all. 

This sentiment hurt Nagisa, as she felt Itsuki considered the thing between them a mistake while Nagisa did not. 

Itsuki isn't at fault here because Nagisa was the complicated one, and Itsuki usually doesn't use his empath abilities when dealing with people.

While Nagisa acts like she resents him, and maybe she thinks she dislikes him, but she actually does not, at least not for the reason she thinks she does.

She thinks she dislikes him for being a womaniser, but she actually dislikes him for walking away from her without even trying. 

Itsuki acted very normally and treated Nagisa like a normal friend and employee as he felt he was doing the right thing, but Nagisa felt only more aggrieved as she felt, to Itsuki, that their moment meant nothing.

It's like when someone tells their boyfriend or girlfriend that they want to break up, and they just say "okay" nonchalantly instead of acting up. It makes the other party feel like they didn't give a shit about the relationship, and the one who initiated the breakup feels bitter. Usually, it happens more commonly with women that doesn't mean there aren't petty men.

If he had pushed a bit more, then she would have folded, but Itsuki didn't know that. All he saw was Nagisa's tears and eyes filled with anger, betrayal and hurt.
