Making A Scene with the Doll

They decided to watch a movie called "College Life: A Typical Week.".

It's about a girl's typical week as a college student as she struggled to juggle her studies, social life, part-time job, and finances.

Evan didn't know why he chose this movie even with all the movie selections available in the cinema, but maybe it was because he randomly felt nostalgic about his own college life and wanted to check if it was worth the "relatability" hype train that he saw on social media.

Once they finished the movie and headed out of the cinema, Eternity was gushing about the film.

"Did you see that?!"

"Yes, Eternity. I was watching with you."

"That's not what I meant." She groaned at Evan's unenthusiastic response. "The ending! It was so profound!"

"Really?" Evan arched an eyebrow at her. "I thought it was rather abrupt."

"I think it was the director's intentions," Eternity explained as if it weren't obvious. "It's the type of movie that wants you to think for yourself. An open-ended ending, if you may."

Evan hummed, not knowing how to match her energy. It must be a sign of aging on his part or Eternity's extreme excitement about watching her first movie in theaters.

Either way, the mall was already closing and it was time for them to pick up their shopping bags at the storage counter--

Suddenly, Eternity lost her balance and fell.

It's a good thing Evan was on guard and immediately caught her. However, when she landed on his arms, she weighed like nothing. Even worse, after landing, she didn't stand back up again.

She just stayed limply in his arms.

"Eternity?!" he shouted, shaking her unresponsive body. "Are you okay?!"

He carefully grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him. His gaze was greeted by her lifeless, moss-green eyes, which were looking far away in a far-off land. Her same dazed eyes from when he first saw her before she was activated.

Oh.

He finally understood what was happening.

She merely ran out of energy.

He kissed her urgently, as if his whole life depended on it. He swirled his tongue inside her mouth, and slowly, Evan felt the energy returning to Eternity. She started responding to him, her tongue playing along with his.

Surrounding them, people gasped at this outrageous display of affection.

It was causing people to stop walking just to stare at two attractive people who ate each other's faces.

But he didn't care. Eternity needed to come back to him.

She needed to.

She must.

After a while, Eternity could finally stand on her own. Unsteadily, she balanced herself on her own two feet.

"Are you okay now?" Evan heaved, wiping a stray string of saliva down his chin.

Eternity nodded, doing the same.

The crowd gawked at them as they made out and slowly dispersed, and Evan had never felt such embarrassment in his life.

He wasn't sure, but he saw in the corner of his eye that some people had their phones out, taking videos or pictures of them.

God, he's so worried about what will come tomorrow.

"Let's get our bags," he said, internally shaking his head for the nth time today.

She nodded and didn't say anything.

Once they got their shopping bags from the storage counter, Evan hailed a taxi and got in with Eternity. Now, they're heading to Evan's apartment. The whole ride was silent. Neither of them bothered to talk due to how tired they were.

While the FM radio buzzed in the background, Evan was gazing out the window as the taxi passed each street lamp on the streets.

He had nothing on his mind, just a recap of what happened today. Just this morning, he was screaming and degrading a woman for being a woman.

Now, he found himself deeply infatuated with one.

No, how many times must he remind himself that Eternity wasn't any woman?

She was his.

Then suddenly, he remembered how Eternity said he didn't seem like a billionaire.

Evan didn't know if he should be offended or proud.

Eternity also mentioned a while ago that they rode a taxi to go to the mall, and now they're riding one again to go back home.

It somehow hurt his ego that she pointed this out.

To be honest, if he were alone, he would've preferred to walk to his destination.

But then again, if he were alone, he wouldn't have gone to the mall in the first place.

Evan could buy the most expensive cars with his money, but he was just never fond of them, unlike other men.

He found it inconvenient that some luxury cars only have two seats.

Of course, not all of them only have two seats, but the popular ones that his colleagues have do. However, he didn't want to look like a cheapskate in front of Eternity.

Evan wasn't the type to flaunt his wealth or use it to impress everyone around him, but something about Eternity made him want to save face.

Speaking of his doll, Evan glanced at her, only for their eyes to meet. Apparently, she'd been staring at him for a while now.

"Say it," Evan said.

"What?"

"You look like you want to say something."

There was a short pause, as if she were surprised that he seemed to have read her mind. "What do you mean when you say you are a self-proclaimed misogynist?" She spoke at last.

"I'm surprised you haven't forgotten what I said on the spur of the moment." Evan rubbed his chin, incredibly impressed. "Maybe it's because of your quick, robot-like analysis skills."

"Hey," she pouted, not liking being compared to a robot. "Why do you hate women?" she pressed.

Evan kept mum.

"Evan?"

"A woman wronged me," Evan explained tersely. "I've never seen a woman the same way since."

"Isn't it wrong to generalize women just because one wronged you?"

Freiheit's voice echoed in his head, saying something similar. "I know."

"May I ask who she is?" she asked. Her tone was not nosey, so it didn't irritate him.

Instead, it sounded like she was genuinely worried about him.

Still, it was not enough for him to spill the beans.

"I'd rather not say."

The conversation stopped right then and there. The air was filled with uncomfortable silence and the constant buzzing of the DJ's voice on the radio.

After a few minutes, Eternity decided to speak.

"Do you hate me?"

"Of course not," Evan almost scoffed.

"Why not?"

Evan looked at her, offering a rare smile. "You're not an ordinary woman. You're an Eternity Woman. An Eternity Doll. My Eternity Doll."

She looked at the floor of the cab, sighing in relief.

"Thank you for not hating me."

Evan rested his head on the taxi's window, smiling.

"Idiot."
