Const Orphanage 6

Elvira ran along the corridor in a frenzy, his heartbeat wildly pounding against his chest. He could clearly hear the slimy saliva of the monster dripping onto the floor behind him, its nauseating stench nearly suffocating him.

Finally, he reached the door of the storage room, pulling out a straightened hairpin and quickly inserting it into the lock. However, just then, the monster behind him leaped with incredible force, several meters into the air, directly pouncing towards Elvira!

Elvira felt a foul wind sweeping over him. Turning his head, he saw the monster's face horrifyingly adorned with six evil eyes, all fixated on him. A shiver ran through him as his body instinctively dodged to the side.

In the nick of time, Elvira forcefully pried open the door to the storage room and tumbled inside. A dull thud sounded as the monster hit nothing but air. Elvira quickly kicked the door shut, fell to the ground, and with all his might, secured and locked the iron door.

Only then did he let out a long sigh of relief. Yet, the danger was not over; he listened intently to the noises outside the door, finding the breathing of the monster growing heavier, as if it were puzzled about the whereabouts of its prey.

In the storage room, there was a hidden door leading to the medical office. Teacher Ginger, fearing that the children might discover the storage room and play inside, locked the main door and created a secret entrance in the medical office, usually accessing the storage through there. The children were very resistant to the medical office, so they never discovered the storage room.

Of course, the secret of the storage room couldn't be kept from Elvira, with his skill in picking locks, there wasn't a room in the Orphanage he hadn't been into.

He clamped his mouth shut, holding his breath, trying to discern his next move from the suffocating silence.

"Thud! Thud! Thud!"

Suddenly, the iron door began to endure violent banging, each impact causing his heart to contract. A terrifying head shape started to form on the bulging part of the door! The creature was attempting to break through, the frail iron door trembling under its strikes!

The deafening sound of the impacts nearly burst Elvira's eardrums, causing his head to throb with pain.

Run!

He quickly darted through a section of dilapidated shelving, the smell of decay hitting his nostrils. Behind the shelves, he found a narrow hidden door concealed behind a pile of brooms and barrels. Without hesitation, Elvira kicked these obstacles aside and pushed the door open.

In the world beyond the door, darkness reigned, with only the faint illumination of his phone's flashlight to guide him. Following the beam of light, he ventured forward.

It was a narrow passage, just wide enough for one person to pass through. Bending over, he sprinted ahead, not daring to look back, for he had heard the violent noise of the iron door being smashed open—the creature had burst into the storage room!

Drops of water occasionally fell from the ceiling of the tunnel onto his head, the chilling cold causing involuntary shivers.

He slipped on something underfoot, nearly falling. Bending down and shining his phone light on it, he found a doll with a broken leg, which looked familiar. He pocketed it and continued running forward.

Reaching the end of the tunnel, he listened intently for any sounds from the infirmary, stepping out cautiously after confirming there were no abnormal noises. However, a piercing bark suddenly echoed from the tunnel behind him; he knew the creature was closing in again!

Elvira, with no time to hesitate, moved quickly through the infirmary under the weak moonlight. Spotting the exit, he rushed towards it, elated.

But just as he was about to exit, a foul, hot stench hit him, making him dizzy and nauseous. Frowning, he turned back and was terrified to see the creature with a human face and the body of a dog standing where he had just been, its six eyes glowing menacingly. It opened its three mouths, revealing sharp fangs, and emitted a deep growl.

Elvira's heart tightened, and he quickly grabbed the doorknob. Across from the infirmary was Teacher Ginger's dormitory, and diagonally opposite was the staircase that had disappeared.

He needed to check if the staircase had reappeared.

The creature slowly rose to its feet, standing tall and muscular like a human, its fur coarse and dense. Its face was grotesquely distorted, with the features of its three faces severely misplaced. Its eyes sunk deep, the whites blood-red and pupils elongated, flickering with a brutal gleam. The three noses were collapsed, leaving only two dark nostrils exhaling foul breath.

The three mouths were unnaturally wide, the corners split to the ears, revealing sharp fangs and vivid red tongues.

That hideous human face was not only misplaced in features but also twisted in expression. It alternated between wide-mouthed laughter and sinister, cold sneers. The face was filled with a bloodthirsty desire and a mad intent to kill, sending chills down the spine.

As the creature took heavy, deliberate steps towards Elvira, each step made the ground tremble. The intense, suffocating stench grew stronger as it neared. Elvira's heartbeat raced, forcing himself to remain calm and look for an opportunity to escape.

As the creature opened its gaping maw, revealing its sharp fangs, ready to pounce on Elvira, he forcefully pushed open a door beside him, ducking and rolling into the hallway!

With a loud "thud," the monster crashed into the door, rebounding onto the floor. Seizing this opportunity, Elvira scrambled to his feet, rolling and crawling towards the staircase entrance!

In this critical moment, the stairs leading to the second floor finally appeared. But the beast, fueled by towering rage and malevolent intent, was already lunging from behind. Elvira felt tingles on his back as if countless icy needles were pricking his spine. He could almost feel the malevolent gaze of those six eyes and the foul stench spewing from its mouths.

He made a decisive leap towards the stairwell, arms protecting his head, and curled up, rolling down the stairs to the second floor.

Lying on the cold floor of the second floor, the terrifying creature was confined to the third floor, emitting crazed, frenzied barks filled with anger and frustration.

Elvira lay on the cold ground, taking a long breath of relief. His body was in pain. As he slowly sat up, he realized he was drenched in cold sweat. His rapid breathing gradually calmed down.

He had to find Blair!

Flanking the second-floor corridor stood several electric lamps. At this moment, the lights flickered in a strange, irregular rhythm, the buzzing of electricity faintly audible.

During the day, Care Workers at the Orphanage had to follow the Care Worker Survival Guide, so naturally, there would also be a manual for surviving the night.

The ones who needed to abide by it were the children.

He pulled the doll from his belt and looked at it closely, now remembering why this broken toy seemed so familiar.

It was because he had seen Blair playing with an identical doll that afternoon.

Blair must know the Orphanage's rules for surviving the night!

He listened intently to the sounds of the entire Orphanage, most children were in the dining hall on the first floor eating their meals.

Except—

The second floor housed the game room, bedrooms, and washrooms.

Elvira arrived at the door of room 203, knocked, and upon receiving no response, pushed the door open and entered.

This was a narrow, cramped bedroom, its white walls long since having lost their former gloss, replaced instead by the marks of time and blotchy stains. The bed sheets were white, and the yellow blanket was neatly folded at the head of the bed. Next to the bed stood a dilapidated wardrobe, leaning crookedly against the corner of the room, its surface marred by scratches and stains. The patterned curtains were drawn tight, completely cutting off the night outside.

She's not here?

Elvira smiled, closed the room door, and took steps towards the wardrobe. His hand reached for the wardrobe handle and with a sudden yank, he pulled it open!

Blair was sitting inside, hugging her knees! Her blue-green pupils were filled with a cold edge; she wasn't startled in the slightest, just quietly looking at Elvira.

"You're good, finding me without fearing." She climbed out of the wardrobe, stood on the floor, and patted her knees.

Elvira pulled out the doll from his pocket, placing it in front of Blair, giving it a shake.

Her eyes suddenly brightened, reaching out to grab the doll. Elvira lifted the doll higher, extending it towards Blair with one hand.

"Trade." Elvira tilted his head, his eyes brimming with curiosity.

Blair, her gaze fixed on the doll, reluctantly threw a crumpled piece of paper into Elvira's hand. Elvira tossed the doll into Blair's arms.

He unfolded the crumpled paper, obtaining the "Nighttime Rules for Children's Survival" he had hoped for.
