"Marriage..."
"Impossible!"
"Then what is this that we have now?" Lin Lijun threw off the blanket covering him.
Lin Lijun held her and pointed at their reflection in the mirror. "Look at us together, how pleasing to the eye, how harmonious. Marry me, who else would you want to marry?"
Zhang Hua was particularly awkward. "Since we're already together, why should we care about formality?"
"Of course it matters. My biggest regret in life is that I didn't marry you, didn't become husband and wife with you. And you, you are the woman I love the most!" His voice grew emotional at this point, and Lin Lijun's eyes brimmed with tears. "Since you were eighteen, I've considered you my wife, my person. Now even our child is so grown up, and yet you're still not my wife. It really makes me feel sad!"
Zhang Hua was silent.
She thought, at their age, why bother about such a distinction?
If two people can live together, that's all that's needed.
