An exceptionally splendid night.
Li Qiyu was persistent, insisting on leaving only after witnessing Aunt Pan being beaten with twenty sticks. Madam Bo was in good health; otherwise, she would have been infuriated to the point of passing out tonight!
Upon returning to the Bo family estate, she washed up, lay in bed, and searched for information about dissociative disorder on her phone.
The official explanation:
This is a relatively unfamiliar mental illness with a very low incidence. It involves the breakdown of functions related to memory, self-awareness, or cognition. Its usual causes are extreme stress or profound trauma, experienced during immense suffering, feelings of isolation, confusion, degeneration, or pessimism. Another you unconsciously emerges, which can be evil, deceitful, or it can be kind, cheerful. It is produced by your subconscious and is not considered a mental illness.
Its main characteristic is that the sufferer dissociates the conscious activities or memories that cause inner psychological pain from the entire mental level, in order to protect themselves, but at the cost of losing their self!
...
In a nutshell, it's a transformation into another personality when one's personality has been oppressed for a long time and self-abandoned.
The difference from schizophrenia lies in the fact that once the second personality is formed, the first one is completely erased!
There is no situation where two or more personalities vie for control of one body at the same time.
Li Qiyu furrowed her brows. Although she had failed to kill herself by jumping into the sea, her past psychological world had collapsed; she had "died"!
And the future? Could there be another "Li Qiyu" who would kill off her personality?
With a heavy heart, Li Qiyu turned over on the down quilt, flipping out a thick album of paintings from under her pillow...
In the painting, Young Master Bo wore a knight's attire, like an aristocratic prince straight out of the medieval era.
Each one was a portrait of him, from various angles, all with an unfailingly austere expression.
It seemed that her past self truly loved him?!
When things reach an extreme, they can only move in the opposite direction. After Li Qiyu's radical change in personality, she now felt not a shred of fondness for Young Master Bo and had no desire to make the same mistakes.
A dangerous masculine aura enveloped her.
Li Qiyu looked up to be met by a face of chilly nobility, with deep-set and lofty nose bridges, and thin lips tinted a seductive red, slightly pursed with a restrained, ascetic air. His skin was very pale, carrying the noble charm of someone of mixed heritage.
Bo Yeyuan appeared as if he had stepped out of the painting, emanating an aura of mystery and took the album from her hands.
"Did I permit you to come in? Get out!"
Bo Yeyuan flipped through the album indifferently, never having known that she possessed such exquisite painting skills.
"Mrs. Bo, you truly surprised me tonight."
"This is just the beginning, Young Master Bo. In the future, I plan not only to surprise you, but also to shatter your preconceptions." Li Qiyu lay leisurely against the headboard, her long hair strewn across the pillow, though lying down, she resembled a haughty queen looking down on her lowly subjects.
"Provoking Madam will not make your future days any easier." Bo Yeyuan's inscrutable gaze seemed to peer directly into her heart.
"I'm already in the worst situation possible. Anyway, no matter how hard I try to please someone, I'm despised and bullied! Why not, from today, become the master of myself?"
This statement, coming from the normally selfless "Li Qiyu," was all the more surprising to him.
Bo Yeyuan scoffed disdainfully as he turned the pages of the album: "Your paintings won't lie. Have you been scheming all this to draw my attention?"
Li Qiyu snatched the album back, picked up a candle from the tea table, and lit the pages on fire...
