Basil Jaak reached the staircase, when he suddenly noticed a figure leaping from behind him. He quickly swung a fist over his shoulder.


"Alright, stop pretending! My fist didn't even touch your nose." Basil Jaak turned and looked at Xenia Wendleton, slightly shaking his head with a helpless expression. He took out his key, unlocked the door, and asked, "What in the world are you doing sneaking up on me in the middle of the night instead of getting some sleep?"


"Who's sneaking up on you?" The moment Xenia saw the door open, she hurriedly darted inside, quickly slipping into Jaak's slippers, tossed her bag onto the sofa, and then carefree lied down, "I intended to surprise you, but I didn't expect you to be so rude, huff!"


"The surprise is real, but I didn't feel particularly pleased." Basil Jaak walked towards his cup, said as he met Xenia's eyes.


Xenia grinned in delight, "Hehe! My sincerest apologies for startling you."
