Basil Jaak opened the door to see the living room shrouded in darkness and Xenia Wendleton's bedroom door tightly shut. He tiptoed inside without turning on any lights, slowly heading toward the bathroom. His plan was to take a quick shower and then head to bed.

But much to Basil's surprise, as soon as he opened the door, a blinding flash of white light seared his eyes. Once he managed to blink the stars away, he was dumbstruck: a gleaming silhouette was tucked behind a curtain of cascading water, like a water nymph emerging from a lily.

Basil previously never understood why ancient authors described a woman's body parts with the prefix 'jad'- he felt these clichés were trite and unimaginative. However, the sight before him completely overturned his previous thoughts as he struggled to find a word more fitting than 'jade'.
