Chapter 23 Lydia White's Silence_1

If Jessica Flack were to know what Basil Jaak was thinking, she might hurl the papers on the desk at him right on the spot.

Luckily, Jessica Flack didn't stoop to Basil Jaak's level. She pulled out a document from the drawer and tossed it before Basil Jaak. Omitting her previously mischievous expression, she gravely said, "The board of directors already approved the motion I submitted for improving security measures on Friday afternoon. It just came down today; you should take a look."

Basil Jaak flipped open the document, rapidly scanning through.

The first section detailed the rationale, the second section the specific measures. The measures were standard - hiring staff, improving equipment, addressing security blind spots. However, when Basil Jaak's gaze fell on the final budget, he abruptly jumped up from his chair, staring at Jessica Flack as if he'd been deceived.
