Basil Jaak and Xenia Wendleton are like they've reached some sort of unspoken agreement. Neither of them says a word, silently keeping the peace while walking up the stairs one behind the other, with only the echo of their footsteps reverberating in the hallway.


Xenia stops abruptly at the door of their home.


Xenia said flatly, "I forgot my keys inside."


"Let me take care of it." Basil walked past Xenia to the door, pulled out a key from his pocket, and unlocked the door.


Xenia walked into the house without a word and went straight to her bedroom.


"Xenia!" Basil suddenly called out to her just as she reached her bedroom door.


Xenia turned around and asked, "What is it?"


"Um...what time did you come home today?" Basil stammered out his question.


Xenia lowered her gaze, glanced at Basil with a hint of disappointment, and said in a flat voice, "I came back this morning. Anything else?"
