Xenia Wendleton followed Basil Jaak into a room, where fruits, vegetables, and dishes were kept, and curiously asked, "Where are we?"


Basil Jaak whispered, "This is their kitchen!"


"The kitchen?" Xenia looked at Basil, wondering why they had ended up in a kitchen instead of making their escape.


Basil explained, "Nobody would think that we'd be hiding in the kitchen. Besides, there's plenty of food here. We need to fill up our stomachs to have the energy to run later."


Only after Basil mentioned it did Xenia realize she hadn't eaten in almost half a day. Initially, she hadn't felt hungry due to fear. But now, she suddenly felt her stomach growling.


"Hush!" Basil put a finger on his lips signaling Xenia to be quiet and then led her inside the kitchen.


Most of the vegetables and meats had to be cooked to be edible. So, Basil didn't bother with those. Instead, he reached into the refrigerator and fetched out bread, ham, and milk for Xenia, all of which could be consumed as is.
