Basil Jaak was taken aback for a moment, then he laughed and said, "Smart as ever, aren't you? So what do you think I should do?"

The old man with the white hair calmly said, "Let me go, and I guarantee your safe departure."

Basil Jaak chuckled, "If I let you go and you betray us, wouldn't that make me a fool? Do you take me for a fool?"

The old man gave no response, he closed his eyes, presenting a defiant attitude which left Basil Jaak at a loss.

After some hesitation, Basil Jaak asked the old man, "What kind of guarantee can you give me if I let you go?"

The old man quietly replied, "I can't give you any guarantees. The only assurance is my word of honor. You can gamble, and you must gamble."

Basil Jaak thought then nodded, "You're right. I have to gamble to get out of here. I agree to let you go, but you have to shout loud, promising that once you return, we will safely leave."

"Agreed!" The old man quickly confirmed without any hesitation.
