Chapter 252: Asking the Gentleman into the Pot_1

Basil Jaak stepped out of the hall and found Dawn Sutton watching television alone on the sofa. He quickly took a seat next to her, startling Dawn so much that she leapt up from the sofa.

Basil heaved a rueful sigh. "Miss Sutton," he said, "am I really that terrifying?"

Dawn's face flushed, and she cast Basil a sideways glance. She busied herself with an excuse and said, "You... you smell like cigarette smoke. I'm not accustomed to it."

Basil was lost for words upon hearing Dawn's flimsy excuse. He shook his head, put the cigarette he was holding back in the box, and then lifted his head to ask, "Miss Sutton, about before…"

The last thing Dawn wants is for Basil to bring up what happened earlier, and her face turned tomato red. "Er, I just remembered—I need to help out in the kitchen," she said hastily, getting up to leave.

Unexpectedly, Basil asked, "Miss Sutton, where's your sister?"

"My sister has gone with my aunt and mom to see a fortune-teller!" replied Dawn.
