"Sis, why aren't you back yet? I'm about to starve to death," came the pitiful voice of Krystal Flack over the phone.


Jessica Flack looked up and realized it was almost noon—indeed, time to go back for lunch. But she said irritably, "What are you shouting for? Didn't I give you money this morning? Just order takeout for yourself!"


Jessica asked with suspicion, "What will you eat if not takeout? Nanny Donne isn't here now."


Krystal continued, "With Nanny Donne gone, isn't Jaak still around? The food Jaak makes is so delicious. Get him to come back and cook for me!"


"How do you know Basil is here with me?" Jessica asked, curious.


"Jaak called me, and I told him..." Krystal began, then suddenly realized her mistake and tried to backtrack, but it was too late. A cold snort had already come through the phone from Jessica's end.
