When Miranda was passing through the corridor, a hospital caretaker suddenly emerged, and the two bumped into each other without the time to dodge.
"I'm sorry!" the female caretaker promptly apologized.
The patients admitted at the Mayo Mental Health Center had almost entirely lost the ability to take care of themselves, so each group needed to have a caretaker assigned to them. The job of these caretakers was to assist medical staff with the patients' daily living needs.
Although Miranda didn't recognize the female caretaker in front of her, she looked familiar, and Miranda was sure she was a colleague.
"It's okay," Miranda said with a smile.
"Thank you, Doctor Miranda." The caretaker, pulling a heavy cleaning cart, headed toward the janitorial room with her head down.
The cleaning cart was covered, but it emitted a foul odor, and Miranda was certain it contained the patients' clothing.
