Time reversed five minutes. Liu Zhongyi and the others had walked away for about ten minutes, leaving Li Ruidde behind as someone who would take care of the aftermath.

He and a few other officers worked together to clean up the scene. They then negotiated with the temporary construction site manager, obtaining permission to halt work for a day. Afterwards, Li Ruidde, with a colleague, armed with their weapons, performed one last search in the tunnel.

This final search was not in hopes of finding a criminal – previous searches had already proven that there was no one else in the tunnel. Li Ruidde's intention was to see if they could find any unnoticed, but useful clues.

He found it hard to believe that a criminal could not leave a trace behind. No human could commit a crime without making a single mistake.

Li Ruidde had been a detective for five years, fully aware of this fact.

However, this latest search seemed to be a futile effort.
