Lance of Darkness

"Once word gets out that you have a light resonance, especially one so staggeringly powerful, all humans, dark elementals and other anti-light beings would be doing their utmost to annihilate any trace of you from the face of this world. The entire human domain, all of the Nightfall Empire, Glacial Nation and Subterranean Realms would be hunting you down," Lord Nightshade explained.

"On the other hand, any light-allied beings would do their best to kidnap you and get you to the light elementals - who would turn you into a sort of half-dead being so they could easily extract the power you produce every day. Believe me, even being tortured daily for the rest of eternity would seem like heaven compared to that kind of treatment. Moreover, if you were not under the protection of a hostile force, it would be child's play for them to locate and capture you - the Divine Kingdom would have dozens of Light Kings scouring the land for you, while the Infernal Machine and Thunderstreak Palace would happily send at least a host of Hellflame Nobles and Lightning Demons to locate and kidnap you,"

I was slightly taken aback by their statement, but a moment later I recovered from the shock. It seemed rather extreme - in fact, far too much so - for so many beings to search for an insignificant like myself, and in hindsight it was basically impossible. It wasn't worth their time, considering that there was a massive ongoing war. Now, I could hardly believe that half a second ago, I was seriously considering their words.

Seeing my disbelief, Lord Nightshade muttered something under his breath. A moment later, he conjured a massive lance of sheer darkness and in the blink of an eye, sent it flying far off into the distance. Seconds later, a pillar of land seemed to erupt in that location, momentarily rising sky-high before crashing back down in a massive shockwave that could faintly be felt even at this distance.

Bluntly, he commanded, "Call in your biggest darkness spell."

I wasn't very happy with his imperious tone, but wordlessly did so anyway. A moment after I finished casting, he separated out the ghostlight from the spell and let the rest dissipate. Then, he summoned the ghostly lance again and integrated the tiny orb of ghostlight into the lance before immediately commanding the lance to repeat its predecessor's action, albeit in the opposite direction this time. In the instant before the lance was out of sight, I saw that its obsidian darkness somehow turned even darker and it grew in size… then an explosion of truly magnificent proportions swept me off my feet.

When I got back up, coughing and aching, there was a solemn expression on their faces. Without a second word, they waved a hand and suddenly the three of us were up in the air, hurtling at breakneck speed toward the site of the first explosion. Suddenly, we came to an abrupt halt as my organs shifted uncomfortably with the rapid movement… and believe me, it was not a pleasant feeling. More so when I was staring at an unfathomably deep hole in the ground and entirely leveled ground in at least a kilometer's diameter around said hole.

There was a strange sort of beauty to the aftermath of the explosion. For its power and size, it was already remarkably controlled. Even the sparse trees outside of the circle of destruction were entirely unharmed, like they were unaware that they just had a brush with death less than a minute ago.

Before I could even properly take in the sight, we were in a completely different location… and my stomach was left behind for the third time. I dropped to my knees - which must have looked rather strange since I was hovering hundreds of meters above the ground - then lost my breakfast, lunch and dinner all at the same time.
