Before I could open my mouth to argue, Lord Nightshade interjected. Conversationally, he asked, "Do you remember when our camp was constantly being attacked, before the surprise ambush by two Light Kings?"
I nodded mutely.
"Then you must have seen that whenever a big battle broke out, some of the Greater Dark Elementals would work together to cast a spell that created a false moon. This spell is known as Solar Eclipse, and it heavily weakens all nearby light spells as well as Elementals."
"Its effect is much greater in this place, by virtue of the Light-Eating Curse laid down by a Night Reaper that is present in every stronghold, but nevertheless it is a very important spell in any group battle. Can you imagine how powerful such a spell would become when empowered by your ghostlight? It could shift the course of a battle just in and of itself."
"Now imagine what would happen if your light resonance was infused into an Ascending Sun spell - or worse still, a Supernova spell. I can imagine that even a Dark Lord like myself would be weakened to the extent of a Greater Dark Elemental, while a Night Reaper might be at best a somewhat stronger Dark Lord. Even a Night Citadel could fall before the might of such a spell! Mortal, do you understand what kind of power you possess now, the fatal attraction you hold to the Divine Kingdoms?"
At his increasingly forceful words, my world shook, and not just because he was failing to restrain his aura in his agitation. Even though every word he spoke sent nails piercing through my mind, I could only focus on the strangely intoxicating idea that I held enough power to change a war… to doom a race. It was with a strange feeling in my heart that I sat down heavily, struggling to comprehend the sheer scale of the issue I had been somehow dragged into.
Suddenly, a bleak laugh tore its way out of my throat. This whole… situation was ironic, in its own way. That I would miraculously survive an accidental teleportation into Bone Plains, a Greater Light Fiend and a desperate flight from the endless army of skeletons, a pack of ravenous dog-like creatures and even witness a fight between Dark Lords and Light Kings… yet I would be killed for having a light resonance by my own allies.
With a slightly deranged smile on my face, I turned to the two specters of death hovering over me and said calmly, "Well? Let's end this pitiful charade, then."
