The ground looked like it had caved in, as if something beneath had collapsed. Under the moonlight, the rocks trembled before a figure with green skin emerged.
"What the heck was that?" Zen muttered, stretching his body.
A ringing sound echoed, and the man pulled out a shell-like device.
"Hey, what's up, my guy?" Zen said casually.
"Captain, what just happened? We felt the whole island shake. What's going on?"
Zen sighed. "You won't believe this, but I sensed someone who can release a power attack of an Emperor tier. I'm not certain, but it seems like a lightning-based attack."
"So, you're saying they have someone with the power of an Emperor tier, but they're not actually an Emperor? Why is this simple task getting more complicated?" A deep sigh came from the other end.
Zen chuckled. "Don't sweat it. Whoever it was must've used up all their mana in that attack. They're probably out of commission by now."
"Alright then, but finish them off. They could become a bigger problem later."
"Yeah, yeah. Anyway, Matt, are you still searching for the treasure?" Zen asked.
Matt sighed again. "The location's probably hidden by one of the island's residents. No easy way around that."
"Then attack and get it over with," Zen said.
Matt yawned. "Okay, but man, I'm so sleepy and bored, you know?"
Zen smirked. "You say that, but you always avoid a fight. I get it though. I'm the only one who can give you a real challenge."
"If I remember right, it's 5 wins for me and 20 draws, huh?"
"You're just showing off, Captain," Matt replied lazily. "But don't worry, I'll win at least once. Anyway, I'm off."
"Later," Zen said.
At the village's highest point stood a man with dark blue hair, dressed in black, his coat billowing in the wind. He wore a lazy expression as he gazed down at the scene below.
"When the sun rises, the ground will be stained with blood," he muttered. The shell-like device in his hand rang again.
"Attack," he commanded.
Near Stella's manor, Adan was on his knees, breathing heavily. Julia was close by, pale and breathing shallowly, but still hanging on.
"You're pretty fast when your life's on the line," Julia teased.
"Huff... huff... What did you expect? I want to live too," Adan pouted. "You look pale. Are you okay?"
Julia stood up, looking to her right. Adan followed her gaze and saw Levi, bleeding and holding Stella in his arms.
Stella had a head wound, and blood trickled down, but Levi looked far worse. A deep wound gaped in his stomach, and his left hand was missing.
He was using mana to stop the bleeding, but it was clear he was in bad shape.
