His crooked smile changed into a challenge as he spoke through the blinding pain.
"It's because you don't have what it takes to take a life. That's my forte."
Skyla shook her head with a cynical scoff. This man didn't know when to give up.
"You underestimate me. I am not the person you manipulated and abused for years."
He dragged his eyes along the length of her body, it was fuller now. She hadn't yet shed all the weight she had gained during pregnancy. She had given birth and survived that push he had given her. Seemed like her child had survived as well or she wouldn't be this calm.
"I can see that," he answered rather placidly.
"Madame Maven passed away. I am just returning from her grave. She was innocent. So was my child. Don't you feel any remorse for your actions," she asked in annoyance but kept her face neutral. Seeing how calm he was still in this condition she didn't want him to crawl under her skin.
