Get It Together

The sadness was heavy and all-consuming, but Sophia knew that it was time to pull herself together and be what her grandparents expected her to be when she promised them to take care of the bakery. They weren't the only ones she was doing it for.

She was doing it for Rosa. She was doing it so her parents could say they were proud of her if they were looking down on her from heaven. She was ultimately doing it for herself.

Even if the thought felt selfish, she needed to show herself that she could gather all the pieces and make it into something. She needed to get her head on straight and be able to pull herself together once again.

Her life was full of loss but that had never stopped her before, so why should it stop her then?
