Chapter 106 : SHIELD Quinjet

My mother always tells me to smile and put on a happy face. She told me I had a purpose: to bring laughter and joy to the world.

Hearing Tony Stark's name, Nick Fury's expression turned grim. Fortunately, his skin color provided a natural shield.

He had encountered this thorn in his side multiple times. The typical arrogance of Stark, more pronounced than even his father, Howard Stark, proved to be particularly troublesome. Any interaction with Stark usually led to complications.

Fury's one eye reflected his displeasure, and he spoke with a hint of malice, "What's going on with Tony Stark?"

"The director, it seems he's not instigating trouble, but rather, he's on the receiving end of an attack."

"What?"

The director quickly summoned a holographic electronic screen, revealing a scene where Tony Stark was desperately evading an assailant.

"What is this? Is his new suit malfunctioning?"

"It doesn't seem so. The appearance is distinct, basically two different styles of armor."

"Zoom in; let me get a clearer view."

Even with the enlarged image, it remained somewhat unclear. "Sorry, their speed is too fast. Satellites can only capture images up to this extent."

"Why couldn't we get a clear shot before?"

"Director, it's about maneuverability. The previous Iron Man had a top speed of Mach 3. This time, conservatively estimated, it has exceeded Mach 6."

"How can he improve so rapidly?" Fury inquired, his brow furrowed.

Fitz explained, "He must have upgraded the armor. I can only say, Tony Stark is undoubtedly a genius."

Upon hearing his capable men's evaluation, suppressed thoughts resurfaced in Nick Fury's mind. Despite Stark's prickly nature, if he could be enlisted as a technical consultant, it might be worth conceding a few steps.

As Fitz finished speaking, Tony was struck by a beam of light.

"Perhaps the next one is an even greater genius, Chief. Should we intervene?"

Simultaneously, a special agent reported, "Director, the military contacted us. They've identified this UFO and seek S.H.I.E.L.D.'s assistance in taking it down."

"Why ask for our help? And it should be in international waters," Fitz questioned suspiciously.

"The F-type fighters can only reach Mach 5 at max speed. They hope to utilize S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fighters for assistance."

Both the agent and Fitz turned to Nick Fury, awaiting his decision.

After a moment of contemplation, Fury, despite the apparent recklessness, opted to assist the military. He saw it as an opportunity—an opportunity to win over Tony Stark. Regardless of who was attacking Stark, it was an order from the military, and cooperation was imperative.

Thinking this through, Fury instructed, "Send two Quinjets and ask the military to dispatch four F-type fighters. Since they're assisting, we'll need to rely on them."

On the other side, as the particle offset force field activated, the laser barrage that seemed threatening to others became nothing more than a dazzling laser rain for Jude.

Jude reveled in the sight. "What a beautiful firework show, Tony Stark. Thank you very much." He taunted Stark as he skillfully maneuvered the Cowboy 1 through the laser rain.

"What the hell!" Tony exclaimed, witnessing his failure. The genius inventor, Tony Stark, found himself unable to even touch his opponent. It was an insult to watch Jude effortlessly navigate through his formidable attack.

Desperate, Tony consulted Jarvis, seeking any available options. "Jarvis, is there any other way?"

"Sir, there is one last option: to get close to the opponent and detonate the energy reactor. However, if you do this, the opponent may survive, but you will certainly perish."

Tony hesitated. This was a discussion, not a life-or-death battle; there was no need to escalate it to such extremes.

"Alarm! The left arm power system is damaged and shut down, the arc gun circuit is faulty and cannot be used."

Tony sighed as the systems began shutting down. It signaled his surrender, abandoning resistance.

Cowboy 1 circled Tony before projecting a 3D phantom identical to Jude.

Jude amused, taunted Tony. "So, Tony, have you given up?"

Tony, defeated and deflated, replied, "Want to have a drink? I've got plenty of good wine at Stark Tower."

"Why not? This will be my celebration wine. And remember to call a group of Victoria's Secret Angels; let's have a grand party!"

Tony said nothing, lacking the strength to argue. After giving an order to Jarvis, he turned and left.

Jude, feeling unsatisfied with the premature end, contemplated finding a reason to confront Tony again. However, the early warning device alerted them to the approach of six flying objects.

Jude didn't hesitate to take the initiative, accelerating the Cowboy No. 1. Tony, unsure of Jude's intentions, followed suit, albeit at a slower pace, reflecting his current mental state.

"Attention, everyone. He's flying towards us!"

"S.H.I.E.L.D. friends, you take the lead in the attack, and we're here to support."

Understanding the situation, the two Quinjets swiftly flanked the enemy, recognizing the need to curb their superior mobility.

As the radar indicated a distance of less than five kilometers between the parties, the Kun-type fighters launched missiles. Unconditionally ordered to shoot down the opponent, they anticipated success.

In an unexpected turn, two Hellfire missiles, originally targeting Cowboy No. 1, suddenly veered towards the Quinjets.

"Evasive maneuvers!"

Boom!

As expected, at such a short distance and high speed, even ace pilots couldn't react in time. The result was a spectacular fireworks display.
