27- The Truth About Yara, Miss Decent Girl

"Miss... Lunch is ready..."

Yara turns her head and stares the door. She held a huge sigh before dragging her legs down from the bed and walking towards the door.

She opens the door politely. The maid smiles at her.

"Cè Do..."

"Lunch is ready, Miss..."

"Is Mom and Dad joining us today?" Yara asks. Cè Do shakes her head.

"Ma'am is still in Korat. Sir has a meeting."

Yara looks bitter. Although, she feels relief to know that both of them were absent when she came back this morning.

"Is... Kluen... Still...?"

"Yes, Miss. Mr. Kluen is downstairs, waiting for you..."

Yara's heart sinks deep.

"Miss... Don't let Mr. Kluen wait. It's not like every day he comes home. He is eagerly waiting for you," Cè Do softly persuades Yara.

Yara grips the door tight. She feels reluctant a bit.

"Fine. Give me a second..." says Yara. Cè Do smiles before leaving Yara, standing alone in front of the door.

Slowly descending the stairs, Yara could see from afar, that a figure is waiting for her at the dining table. She walks towards him with a heavy heart.

"Sorry to keep you waiting..."

"It's fine. Cè just finished serving the food," Yara takes a seat at the right side of the table.

"Still hangover?" the man asks. His pair of clear hazel eyes are staring at Yara. She shakes her head in tiny. The man stretches his hand and tries to touch Yara's forehead but she dodges him.

"I'm fine..."

"You look kinda lost when I pick you up this morning," says Kluen. He stares at Yara, full of concern.

"I was drowsy and drunk," Yara replies to him in short. She takes the rice bowl and serves Kluen some rice. Then, she put some into her plate.

"Eat more. You look too skinny..."

"I'm not hungry,"

"Should I ask Cè to make a roselle juice for you?" asks Kluen.

"Phi... I'm fine... Just eat,"

Kluen shuts himself. He nods before serving some more food on Yara's plate. She feels annoyed but she doesn't reject the food. She eats them slowly. Watching Yara eat well, Kluen finally digs in as well.

The dining table falls into a deep silence. The air feels awkward although the space between Kluen and Yara is only a few inches apart. Both of them eat, acting carefully within each other's presence.

The lunch is done when Cè Do serves them a pot of warm tea. As per request by Kluen, Yara has a glass of cold roselle juice to cure her hangover, although she's not feeling it anymore.

Kluen watches Yara sipping the juice slowly. He balls his fist a bit. The determination is stacking into him.

He wants to know what happened to her.

"Where have you been last night?"

"A party," Yara replies in short.

"A frat party?" Kluen asks her again.

"Birthday party," again, Yara replies to him in short.

"A birthday party at the men's dormitory?" Kluen starts to feel pricked.

"A nightclub," Yara feels half-hearted in replying to Kluen anymore.

"From there, straight away to the dormitory?"

"Phi, I don't feel like talking right now. I'm sleepy and tired..."

"Yara, who do you sleep with last night?"

"Phi Kluen!" Yara slams the table. Her patience has been running out ever since the first question. She refuses to seek a fight with her brother due to some respectful feelings towards him. But, Kluen stammers her with some unnecessary questions, making her anger spikes out of control.

"I'm asking because I care, Yara..."

"There is nothing to be taken care of, Phi. It's too late for that-"

"Yara, I'm your brother-"

"Step... Brother..." Yara glances at Kluen. She gives him a deep, sharp stare.

It's unusual for her to act so bluntly like this.

But, to be honest, this is the real Yara.

She's not that soft fluffy cloud girl that everyone knows. She can't always be happy and silly. She's still a human being full of emotions.

"Still, there is a bond between us..."

"Used to have. Not anymore!"

"Yara... I do care about you. Coming out from a men's dormitory... What will people say?"

"Why would you care? I don't think you should, when you already know that's not the first time I've been sleeping with a man!"

Kluen sighs heavily.

"So, you wanna sleep around? Like a whore?"

"Why would you care anyway? You did treat me like one," asks Yara in a sarcastic voice.

"What happened between us is not a reason for you to seek trouble, Yara. I still care about you. You're worthy more than this," Kluen touches Yara's forearm. But she swats him away from her.

"I'm sleepy..." she takes off from the dining table and leaves Kluen alone. The man sighs before continues sipping his tea.

I should keep checking her social life....

Kluen murmurs alone.

***

Yara slams the door behind her. She slides slowly onto the floor, suppressing her tears before letting a soft sobbing from her lips.

Her heart shatters into pieces by Kluen. The man hurts her. Sometimes, she wishes Kluen never existed in her life!

Her mind drifts away, flying backward, back to the day when her father introduced her to Kluen and his mother. That hazel eyes captivated her right on the spot. A 15-year-old teenage girl felt her heart beating loudly for the first time.

Too bad the man was soon to be her brother. No matter how much her feelings developed, there was no way Kluen could be hers.

So, for the sake of her father, Yara accepted her unfortunate unrequited love.

Yara treats Kluen like her brother and spends more time with him so they can bond faster as a family. Kluen is a nice man; a medical student who is also a role model for his college friends and juniors. Whenever Kluen brought her to meet his friends, everyone never bad-mouthing him.

Kluen is a perfect man for everyone. Which makes things even harder for Yara to hide her feelings for him.

She fell too deep for Kluen. The man who later became her brother. How dreadful it feels to face the man that she loves almost every day and act like nothing is wrong with her.

That's what Yara faced for years.

Until one day, their parents' relationship seemed to sit on the verge. They constantly fight and slowly live separate lives.

It was a difficult moment for Yara. She was preparing for university entrance exams, and things were not good at home.

Kluen saved the day, diving into the most important time of her life, giving her a priority, and making her feel important. They create a tight bond during hard times.

But, little that they know, that was a bad move.

For Yara, who is already so in love with Kluen, that was a very wrong move.

And, unknowingly for Kluen, he slowly developed feelings for Yara, too. From a relationship between siblings, they cross the line a bit too much.

End up sleeping together. Not once. Not twice.

Kluen is the first man who ever touched Yara. He makes her feel so deeply, that she can't get out of the emotion. Not at all.

When their parents seemed like having a dead knot, Yara asked Kluen if he wanted to have a serious relationship with her. The man promised her that if their parents got divorced, they would get into a serious relationship. They wait for the day when the divorce happens.

It never did.

At first, Yara thought maybe the relationship between her and Kluen, it wasn't even meant to be. Instead of blaming anyone, she accepted her parents decision to reconcile. And taught herself to moving on from Kluen. Even if it hurts so bad for her.

However, things got ugly one night.

While the family had a dinner together, first time ever after the separation, her father voiced out a gratitude towards Kluen. He said, if it wasn't for Kluen who convinced him to reconcile, perhaps by now her parents were already divorce.

Hearing that made Yara fell in shock.

So, after so long, it was Kluen who saved the family. It's a noble act, yes.

But, what makes Yara devastated was, he knew how much Yara loved him. And, she even asked for a serious relationship with her if their parents got divorce. The relationship between their parents was in strain. There was no hope.

And Kluen knew, Yara is waiting for the divorce to happen so she can get into a relationship with him.

But, instead of being responsible for her feelings towards him, Kluen betrayed her by trying to make their parents reconcile and avoid the divorce.

So, all this time, it was Yara who so deeply in love with Kluen. He never had any intention to love her back, just as much as she does. What made things even worst is, they already sleeping together, living like a couple.

Where is her value then?

Right after that, Yara was hurt. And she started feeling doubt about herself and having a trust issue with everyone.

Gradually, the relationship between her and Kluen drifted away. She's back into a slump, maybe even worse than before. Moreover, she has to face every girl that Kluen brought home to introduce to their parents as his prospective wife.

It's even more hurtful than any wound in the world.

That's the kind of world that Yara lives in. The image that her friends and seniors see now is nothing but a mask to hide her tragic life. She pretends to act innocent but in reality, she's not.

Thinking about how she easily sways with her feelings makes her sick. How easy for her to let Kluen mess with her life, let the man touch her when she's aware that it shouldn't be happening to them.

Because of love, now she cries alone in her room.
