I was done with my work earlier on this fateful afternoon, and so I decided to pick up Zoey from her high school. She was very happy to see me. It was unlike me, because of the state of my job. Sometimes, I feel very bad that I don't have enough time for Zoey.
I held onto Zoey's hand so tight, heading down to a nearby bus stop. We were about to board a bus, when my phone rang. I excused myself, to pick up the phone call. Zoey stood at a corner, waiting patiently for me to be done with my call.
While she was waiting for me, Zoey felt a tap from behind. She gasped out in fright, turning her head backwards. She heaved out a sigh of relief, after seeing it was Sebastian that was standing behind her. Zoey flew into his arms, while he gently pat her back. Sebastian cuddled her like a baby, and everyone that saw them were thinking he was a father to Zoey.
"Cute uncle, are you also here to board a bus?". She asked him.
"Uhm..not really. I was walking towards somewhere, when I saw you standing here all by yourself." He replied.
"Well, I'm not alone. My mum is here." Zoey said to him, pointing her finger towards me.
Sebastian eyes followed the direction of Zoey's finger, while he stared at me. Luckily, I was backing them. I was on a serious phone call with poor frustrated Jasmine. Things weren't really going too well for her at the moment, and I was the only one she could confront. She wanted me to come over to her family's home and I haven't been there before. I really don't know what's going on, but it saddens my heart that Jasmine was the one at the center of it all.
Zoey on the other hand, hurriedly left Sebastian, approaching me. She stood infront of me, having a lot to say. I promised Jasmine to come over her family's home as soon as possible. Done with the phone call, I faced Zoey trying to explain to her, what the phone call was all about. She on the other hand, wanted to say something to me.
"Do you want to say something?". I asked her.
"Y..yes mum. Cute uncle is down there, and I think this is the right time for you to meet my new friend." Zoey said to me.
"I'm sorry, but I can't do that now, maybe some other time. Go home alone, I have somewhere urgent to go to." I told her hastily.
Zoey could see the hastiness written all over my face, and all she did was nod her head at me, understanding me. I left the bus stop immediately, going off to board a taxi that would take me to Jasmine's family house, through the direction she told me earlier.
Zoey returned back to Sebastian, feeling so disappointed. Sebastian could see the change of mood on her face, and obviously knew her plan didn't turn out so well.
"What happened now? She refused?." Sebastian asked her.
"She left. She had somewhere urgent to go to." Zoey replied him with a sad voice.
"It's fine. I'm not mad at all." He tried cheering her up.
"Will you board the bus with me then?". Zoey asked him.
Sebastian had somewhere to go, but decided to board the bus with Zoey, because he didn't want her to feel lonely in there. She was very happy he accepted her offer and she really enjoyed the ride with him. Sebastian bought an ice cream for her, and she really appreciated his act of kindness.
★★At The Caddels★★
I reached at the Caddels apartment before thirty minutes. My journey over there, were over twenty kilometers.
Getting there, I paid off the taxi driver, going into the apartment. It was really a large one and I realized that was the reason, they paid huge amount for the house rents.
I barged into the entrance door without knocking, and I looked into the house, trying to locate Jasmine and the rest of her family.
I noticed I was at a corridor that was leading me to the upper side of the house. I walked gently, admiring the inner decorations of the building. I met a stair case infront of me, and decided to climb up the stairs.
Going up the stairs, I heard some noises that came from a room at the right side of my hand. I followed the traces of the noise, locating the room. I noticed it was a large balcony. I decided to becareful and peep in.
I peeped in, catching a glimpse of Jasmine and her family. All her siblings were complete in there, and her parents were seated on a swinging couch.
"Mum I'm tired of everything."..I overheard Jasmine's fainting voice from inside.
"Keep shut!." A voice warned her.
I couldn't ignore all these anymore, so I decided to enter inside the balcony. The dragging of my feet attracted them to me, and they were surprised to see a total stranger in their home.
Mrs Caddel tried screaming for help, but Jasmine shunned her. I walked up to them, standing next to Jasmine. I held her hand tightly, exchanging glances with Kiara that already knew me from the last time she visited Jasmine's house.
"Who are you? and what gave you the audacity to barge into our home in such manner." Theodore, Jasmine's older brother asked me with a cold croaking voice.
"She's my best friend." Jasmine responded back, before I could even reply back.
"Best friend? When did our family start having best friends?". Mr Caddel asked her.
Jasmine ignored his question, while I stood still, waiting for whatsoever happens. Theodore being the oldest, wasn't having it at all. He stood up, even after Margaux the second of the Caddels family tried stopping him from overreacting.
Theodore took two steps forward, towards me. He looked into my eyes, and all I could see was a beast, ready to devour us. I tried my best not to feel frightened by his fiery self, because I would do anything to support my best friend, and also fight for her.
"I order you to leave our home right now. I don't care about your relationship with my younger sister." Theodore commanded.
"I'm not leaving. I'll only leave, if Jasmine is leaving." I replied him with so much poise in my voice.
"I'm tired of everything. Uncle Theodore and Aunt Margaux, you're also part of the Caddels, so I appreciate you carry out your duties. I've done enough." Jasmine cried out.
"She's just the third, but acting like she's the first. This is so unfair to my friend." I added.
Jasmine started sobbing again and they weren't even moved with pity. They were acting like this because they knew Jasmine was working under a good agency. They felt she was the wealthiest among them and wanted to suppress the poor lady. I couldn't stand and have it with them anymore. I angrily held onto Jasmine's hand, dragging her out of the balcony alongside with me.
We climbed down the stairs, while her family remained at the balcony dumbfounded. I was used to running away, and it wouldn't be a bad idea if I did it once more with my best friend. I was doing the right thing, or else I would be coming for her yearly death anniversary. I really loved Jasmine so much. I boarded a cab for the both of us and it arrived in less than five minutes. We jumped into the cab, heading back home.
