The kid named Vee

As for these two people, they stood to the side so a person walking past would not bump into them or a hover car suddenly knocking them from behind.

These two were obviously Alex and the village head who arrived after days of travel.

They had reached the kingdom that was the capital of the southern continent after traveling days and had spent two more days touring the place as well as letting Alex get a view of how his new environment would look like.

After leaving the village, Alex traveled on the wind trail of the village head for two days before arriving at the first kingdom. Those two days were relatively smooth as they did not encounter any magic beasts along the way and the only time that they stopped was when the village head was running low on mana and had to rest.

These two days led Alex to realize just how hidden and far their village was from other kingdoms as well as why the village head had decided to accompany him to the academy personally, no wonder the villagers who left to sell the farm products of the village would take weeks to months to return after leaving.

The wind trail that the village head used was a movement spell that had the speed of a magic beast and could cover dozens of kilometers every hour yet they had spent two days in an endless forest that Alex was not sure he would be able to find his way back easily if he was by himself, the village head did show him some landmarks but Alex just was not confident of following them without missing one or two. At most, he would take longer to return because he was sure that he would miss the route a few times and would have to retract his steps before trying a different path.

After reaching the first kingdom, the village head did not decide to book a place to stay for even a day because he knew that resting now might affect their travel.

"We will be able to rest at each after reaching the capital, we won't need to be afraid of being late"

The village head had told Alex when he took him to a back house to wash up, after all, they had spent two days traveling through trees and dirt and were looking horrible that people stared at them strangely when they arrived.

They also bought a new set of clothes after, since these old clothes looked terrible and worn out. This was out of consideration for Alex's feelings from the village head as he did not want the kid feeling out of place when he saw others with good clothes.

He also took Alex to a salon to get his hair washed and trimmed before they set off. Although Agnes had tried to give Alex's hair proper maintenance which was rare, her skills could not be compared to the professionals here.

Alex was finally looking like a decent kid after wearing his cheap but nice clothes and getting his hair done, he looked like a kid from an above-average family.

They did not stop at a place to eat since the meals prepared by the villagers were still remaining and could last them for two or three more days. They continued their journey to the capital that same day by boarding numbers of commercial hover cars and floating trains crossing more than three kingdoms in the next four days.

During these few days after leaving the embrace of bushes and trees, Alex had been stunned and fascinated by the new view in front of his eyes. This amazement was multiplied by countless times after reaching the capital. It was as if he had entered a brand new world that was nothing short of imaginative, he felt like he was dreaming or reading a story that did not exist.

The tall, glamorous buildings, dazzling hover cars that drifted above the neat roads, stores that sold things he did not know about, and people dressed in lavish clothes. Alex found it difficult to believe that he was on the same planet that his village was located, they were simply worlds apart!

He had managed to partially get used to it after spending two days in the capital but he would still find himself zoning out whenever he came out on the streets, the view was just too mind-blowing that he always found himself staring around without even realizing.

As for why they were currently outside the academy for registration only after two days, part of it was because the village head had promised Alex that they would rest after reaching the capital and another was that tomorrow was the awakening ceremony which meant that today was the last day of registration.

They found out that registration had been on for a month now and a huge number of people had been coming to register every day, causing the academy to be packed and rowdy for the entire month. The situation did not improve even after weeks and the number of people streaming in was still as high as ever, today being the last day of registration just happened to have fewer people but they still easily numbered in the hundreds and these two were just arriving.

"I still can't see the end of the fence no matter how far I look" Alex muttered absentmindedly as he stared at the fence of Royal Magic Academy that stretched far into the distance.

"Of course, you can't see it, it would be a joke if you could see the end of the fence. The school is so huge that it covers more than a quarter of the capital, it's literally a small town" the village head who was standing beside Alex said with a chuckle but even he was finding it difficult to contain the feeling in his heart.

Although he had not spent all his life in the village like Alex and had even attended a magic academy as well, he had never been to the Royal magic academy before nor had he come to the capital before. He was only able to remain calm and act normal since he was an adult while the other was a kid.

"Come, let's go register you. Tomorrow is the day you officially become a mage" the village head said to Alex with a smile radiating with confidence. He did not for once doubt Alex's awakening, after all, he had already shown signs of being a seedling.

After struggling through the sea of people, the duo finally made their way into the academy ground. They were directed to a room after waiting for some time where they were asked to pay five gold coins as registration after answering some questions regarding their identity and Alex's age, Alex was given a number tag which he was told to keep safe and bring along while coming back tomorrow.

While they were returning, they stumbled into a kid at the entrance of the registration building. The kid was on his way to register just like them but strangely, he did not have an adult accompanying him like Alex.

The kid had short white hair just like Alex, the only difference being that his hair was smooth and packed to the back by a hair band while Alex's hair was spiky.

The kid waved at them the moment he spotted them and greeted the village head while staring at Alex with similarly white eyes.

"Whoa, your hair and eyes are similar to mine! Such a coincidence. I'm Vee, what's your name?" The kid exclaimed while staring at Alex with shocked eyes.
