Chapter 290 : Dance 4

The Yule Ball was a spectacle of lights, music, and elegance. The Great Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, with icicles hanging from the enchanted ceiling and the floor gleaming like freshly fallen snow. Warm, golden light emanated from hundreds of floating candles, casting a soft glow over the room. Students dressed in their finest robes danced to the lively music played by a magical band, their laughter and chatter filling the air.

Seeing this, Orion honestly compared it to what he remembered from the movies, and it didn't add up at all. At least this one wasn't like a canon.

Orion entered the Hall with both Rose and Daphne on either side of him. The trio turned heads as they walked in, their presence drawing more than a few curious glances. Rose wore a stunning crimson gown that matched her hair, while Daphne's dress was a deep, enchanting shade of dark blue.

Orion might be the only one who didn't put that much effort into his clothes; he just wore a modern suit from the 21st century, which he, of course, conjured out of magic at the last second before coming here. It was nothing fancy, but it also mattered who was wearing it. Orion was no ordinary man, after all. With white hair and striking blue eyes, no matter what he wore, he would look good anyway.

The atmosphere was lively, with students from all houses mingling and enjoying the festivities. The enchanted snow falling gently from the ceiling didn't melt, adding to the magical ambiance. The tables were set with extravagant feasts, and the aroma of delicious food wafted through the air.

Despite the festive environment, Orion remained somewhat distant, though he made sure to engage with both Rose and Daphne as they guided him through the dance floor. Rose, with her infectious energy, encouraged him to relax and enjoy the moment, while Daphne was just happy, though still confused, at how all three of them ended up coming together.

Though Orion didn't want to come, now that he was here, he decided to enjoy it with the gals. He was no dancer, but he did what he could to not completely embarrass his two dates.

'Maybe I should have attended those dancing lessons by McGonagall,' Orion couldn't help but ponder.

He could see that many were looking at them, especially since he was taking part in dancing with two girls.

A little embarrassing, honestly, but who cares? He got the two best girls, so it's their loss, not his.

And while a lot was happening at the Ball, Orion, for at least tonight, didn't bother doing anything else but relax. God only knows he needed the off time right now.

He remembered that in the movies, the dance wasn't that good for the golden trio. The situation was pretty different here.

The golden trio no longer existed at all. Hermione was not even in Gryffindor anymore and had come with Nick.

Orion had no idea where Ron was, and Harry Potter in this world was Rose Potter.

'But still, that moon-like setting was better than here, especially when I was alone with both Rose and Daphne.

Maybe I should try and see if I can actually take them to the moon next time. Not sure what kind of crazy magic that will take, but one thing for sure is that it will be a lot easier than bringing back Merlin. Hell, I am just right now coming up with a few ideas to make that happen,' Orion thought as he was again pulled by Daphne to dance with her. At first, he had to dance with Rose, both of them being the champions and all, so they had to dance before others.

And though Orion decided not to worry about anything else, he couldn't help but look over at both Hermione and Morgan, who were dancing as well.

Both of them were looking good, but that was not exactly where he was looking. He was trying to catch their shadow. It was there, but Orion could see through it. It was nothing but magic to make the shadow appear, not the real shadow.

This was confusing him. He could, to some degree, understand that this was the situation with Nick, aka the man who delved day and night into dark magic. It's understandable that something strange like this happened with him.

But Orion could perfectly see that his shadow was not fake; Nick's shadow was normal and real.

Orion did much research about this, but neither in the library nor in the old books he got from Gringotts did he find anything related to the shadow.

'Maybe Eric might know something?

I gotta ask him later when I visit that mansion. He's from Merlin's time anyway, and according to him, Merlin's student no less. I should try asking him.

Of course, there is one more person who has a good understanding of dark magic whom I might be able to ask, but I don't want to go to that old man if absolutely necessary.' Orion thought, and in the end, an image of a white-haired revolutionary came to his mind. He just sighed at this.
